2006 Dodge Caravan SWB
There are 9 user reviews for the SE trim shown below
- Inexpensive, best ride for the money
- No cruise control
Simple, great mile per gallon economy, only paid $12000 for a brand new 2006. if you want a car that will take you places cheap and with comfort you must buy this car.

- Horrid fuel economy - 20 hghwy, deceptive advertising about interior space, etc
Have 3,000 miles onm it and have never gotten CLOSE to advertised fuel rating. Average highway MPG is 20.1. Owner manual statws that a full sheet of plywood can fit in the back with rear seats folded down (backs) and "ffront seats slightly forward of rear most position". This is an absolute LIE. Front seat need to be ALL the way forward to fit a sheet of plywood. The rack was dealer installed (Boch Dodge, Norwood MA) and already the screws are rusting as are the entry points into roof. It appears one vinyl wheel well liner in the rear is missing. Spare tire access is poorly designed. Make sure you have a strong agile person on hand to crank it down and pull it out from under car. The left steering wheel stalk is very confusing - too many controls on it. Light dimmer does not react quickly enough. Headlight control switch not well located. Parking brake release is awkward to reach.
Dealer pulled at least two bait and switches. I should have walked out after the third hour, but they had taken my credit card and were reluctant to return it until they tried to strike a deal.
Otherwise the Caravan is a decent minivan. front seats are comfortable,...read morehide

We bought a 2005 verison of the Dodge Grand Caravan. WHAT A HORRIBLE MISTAKE!!!
We had not had it a month when I lost complete power on the interstate. Twice this has happened and Dodge's excuse was that prehaps that I purchased bad fuel. Of course this was not covered under any warrenty either. We defintally will not buy another Dodge Vechile ever again....read morehide

- Fair fuel economy. Very room inside. Very quiet. Looks good. I like the updated intereior lights.
- Little cheaper than past years. No electrical plugs that work without keys. One light at trunk
I've owned two other caravans. I am very happy with the caravan and would probably purchase another one.... If I don't go the car route next time.

- Has good power
- RELIABILITY... worst ever!
I will never buy another American made car! This one is sooo unreliable. We went in with my brother-in-law and bought 2 of them @ the dealer and got a GREAT price, BUT, Who cares when you can't drive it!!! Both our vehicles will just stall and egine turn off when driving on HWY, Stopped at a light or whenever it feels like it. The dealer can't find anyhting wrong with them! My brother-in-laws just stops running and he cant get it to start again, I'm a little bit lucky, becuase when my stops, I can start it back up! WHAT A JOKE. CHEAP Vans but you get what you pay for!!!!!!...read morehide

- too many machincial problems
I am a first time owner who is unstatisfied with this vehicle. It is very cheap and its interior is falling apart. It constantly has mechanical problems that make it unreliable.

- Excellent ride, grea value
- No map holders in front doors (very minor!!)
When you think about the price you pay for this van, compared to say, a Honda, the Caravan is far superior. I don't care much for the power windows, however, and the front doors could've used map holders, but otherwise it's a solid ride. The DVD system is awesome and the sound is superior. Compared, at a 2006 Autoshow, to a Mazda MPV, the interior room is enormous. I love the exterior look as it looks beefier than most vans out there. Fuel economy is great, handling tight, and it's got everything you need. I read somewhere the Honda Oddysey has 17 cupholders. WHY? The Caravan has 6. And although it technically has room for 7 people, the 3 in the back better be close friends or small in stature as 6 is really the max. The features like headlight delay off and flashing indicators when the sliding doors open are great as kids tend to bolt out into the parking lot when the van is stopped. The lack of ABS is overrated. Just think of it as 1 less thing to go wrong with your ride. Much like the power windows....read morehide

- excellent fuel economy on Hwy, low interior road noise
- none found
We keep a car 2 years, after comparisons with other vans this was by far the best value in the market for our family needs. So far so good.
