Some of the haters below are likely trolls and fanboys of other manufacturers: Anyone that's objective would agree that this is one awesome piece of machinery: Balanced in so many ways, and a beautiful display of what's to come with FIAT-Chrysler in one company now. You're getting essentially an Americanized Alfa Romeo with more high end touches you'd only find in luxury cars $30,000+ more in price. It's a flat out steal (the Alfa Romeo Giulietta it's based on in Italy starts at $35,000+ U.S. with less features) - and made in the U.S. People who ACTUALLY DRIVE it and compare it objectively with others in its class CLEARLY see you get one hell of a package and a high quality, state-of-the-art car. This is NOT anywhere close to whatever was in the past, and this is a clear sign of the future with Italian engineering and American imagination.
Built from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta (Americanized awesomely!). And I must say, you can feel the refinement from the first time you sit in one and hear the throaty exhaust note (I have the Italian-designed 1.4 MultiAir Turbo and Italian-Designed Dual Dry Clutch Transmission). It's clear that this isn't the old Dodge (and old Chrysler). The design is amazing - Interior is beautiful, modern and insanely full of top of the line technology - especially for that price point!
Driving it - it's unmistakably Italian - solid and confident in corners. Weighted and precise - a blast to drive. Made of more than half high strength steel, so you feel the solid build in driving and even when closing the door.
Napa leather interior with stitching is clearly refined - soft touch materials everywhere. People need to realize that this is a modern designed cabin - not a cluttered center console like some people seem to like in inferior competitors in this class.
UConnect Entertainment is easy, big and the heads up display is state of the art (customizable!). The Alpine Surround System is badass as well. My limited has Blind Spot Detection, rear-cross detection with a backup camera, TCT LCD display as a heads up display (you can only get something like this in a Mercedes S-Class!), etc. I mean c'mon, the others in this class don't even come close.
For someone in my age group and BEYOND, it's so smartly designed in so many ways. Good balance between fuel economy and performance - fun but economical. The real power comes alive at above 2,000 RPM, and it definitely KICKS. You must remember that this thing was made for sporty fun like the Alfa Romeo/FIAT it is underneath the hood, but for MPG - which, like any other car, you get a lot of if you DRIVE MODERATELY.
Dual Dry clutch transmission is great for me - as I love European cars and realize that this is a manual shifted by computers. Some Americans may prefer a traditional automatic, but I love it the way it is with the Dual Dry Clutch. They tried to make it smooth enough to act like an automatic - balanced just enough. That makes it a little less sporty than its Italian cousins (Alfa, Maserati, etc.) - but again, it's made to be balanced with an American driver in mind.
Bottom line, Dodge Purists from the past may not be used to it - with Italian flare, fit/finish, quality and interior design. But to most people who appreciate awesome cars, the Fiat Group has officially saved the Chrysler Group - and put them on the top (Including Quality - read up on the Fiat Group's modernizing of the manufacturing processes, obsession with quality and investments in quality testing). Americanized Style with a more reliable european DNA - for the price, it's a flat out steal.
