- 5000 miles from new and it wont start, Dodge dealer has no idea why
Simply refuses to start and dealer cant fix it after 5 days of diagnosis. Note, this car has only 5000 miles on it from NEW, carefull miles, kept in garage.
Very poor interior, very plastic, surfaces scar easily. Leather on seats very thin.
Bits of plastic already broken on floor and seat trims.
Major rattle from dashboard
5.7 Hemi feels like its pulling 24,000 lb trailer (should be more sporty for the figures)
Transmission in a different time zone than the engine. Not well sync'd - could do with reprogramming if you want it to feel like a powerful car.
Terrible ground clearance, DONT TAKE IT OFF THE PAVEMENT, front splitter is like a grader scoop.
Lots of road noice.
Subwoofer distorts at half volume.
Thirsty despite MDS
NEVER will I buy such a vehicle again....read morehide

- Good Acceleration. Hemi is Awesome.
- Very Long Front Dashboard.
We drove a 2006 Durango from San Francisco to L.A. and back plus a lot of city driving in both towns (about 2000 miles). It is a very solid performer. We had the Limited Edition 4x4 with the Hemi engine. It was very comfortable and roomy inside with plenty of room for all of our luggage. Handling was extremely good. My only dislike was the long dash, wich seemed 3 feet deep. On the highway (I-5) the mileage was very good (19-21 mpg), city (13-15 mpg), and this is very good for a heavy truck with a 5.9 engine. We own a '05 4-Runner Limited and wish we would have bought the Durango instead. The 4-runner looks good, but there is not as much room or comfort as in the Durango. Plus it cost a lot more than the Dodge and was not worth the extra cash. On long trips your legs get cramped in the 4-runner (especially your right leg). We are looking to trade up to the Dodge as soon as we can....read morehide

- Best fold flat 3rd seat of any SUV,8950lb towing with 3.92 diff,smooth ride,power liftgate,8 passngr
- Legs will hit floor boards when exiting/entering vehice, no rearview camera, limited storage
I hesitantly traded my 2001, SLT plus durango in for a 2006 limited 5.7 HEMI version. The reason - ride quality and safety aspects are much improved over the old style. I was happy with my 2001 and planned on keeping it but then I got a tremendous deal on a 2006 that I could not pass up. I was comparing this with the Armada which my brother had bought. The Durango is just the right size as the Armada is a tank. The Armada is too big but it does have more amenities such as a rear camera system to help you back up, lighted turn signals on mirrors, split liftgate glass in the rear, tire pressure monitoring, dual zone climate control, etc. But, the cost difference was almost $10,000 between the two vehicles and they could both essentially do the same thing - tow a 9000 pound load and provide a safe and smooth ride for my family. I wish the Durango navigation system had a touch screen rather than a joystick and an "enter" button as this would make the system much more user friendly. Entertainment center is terrific and my kids can watch a movie, or switch to a CD from the 6 disk changer, or listen to the radio or satellite radio - all from the back seat using their remote. I do wish the durango were not so ugly but the refinements that Dodge made over the first generation durango's makes this a best buy. HEMI is a must as it accelerates much the same way my lighter 2001 durango did with the 4.7 liter....read morehide

- Sharp looking vehicle, Turn Heads when clean! LOL Great performance. Good MPG
- I have no complaints... This is my 3rd Durango.
I read some of the other reviews, and you guys gotta grow up. If you are on a limited budget... dont buy a SUV period... By rollerskates. Every SUV will use up gas. If you cant afford the truck you cant afford the gas.. and vis-versa. As for my opinion, this is my 3rd Durango. I had 98, 01 and now the 04. never had a serious problem and the problems I did encounter were addressed and remedy by my 5 start dealer. My only wish when it comes to dodge... I wish they weould redesign every 3 years rather then 5 years. I look forward to seeing the new design. I will be buying a 2007 next. BTW.. I also own a Ford Exposition and Recently purcahsed the Hummer H3 for my wife a couple of weeks ago for Christmas. The Durango is a better drive them the other 2 hands down. I drive to Orando 3 times a year with this baby too. Love it....read morehide
