Purchased As New
Purchased this vehicle new about 6 weeks ago. Test drove an Acadia, Traverse, Highlander, and MDX. Every time I'm referring back to this vehicle. Purchased the V6 AWD (does not need Hemi V8) with the options (leather, sunroof, back-up camera, park assist, navi, remote start, etc.) and feel that for the price, is the best one out there. Traded in a Saturn Outlook XR (I wish GM still makes them) and highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a spacious vehicle with 3rd row with nice amenities without breaking the bank.
The 1st and 2nd row seats are heated and provide nice support (a little on the firm side) on long trips. I have ridden in the 3rd row seat and felt comfortable. It lacks the flexible 2nd row quad seating like the GM Lambdas but was not a big deal at all. Ingress and egress are easily achieved (not much problem to the 3rd row with the shorter section of the 60/40 bench folded down (pull of a lever and seat tie).
The V6 has enough grunt at a higher RPM (some of the reviews were not impressed with the 5AT which I found it somewhat mind-boggling). The GM Lambdas 6AT VVT hesitates alot to downshifting (I also had issues of the tranny "jerks" at cruising speed in the GM vehicle but the service guys said it was normal - oh well). The 290hp is enough brute to get you around town and highway cruising. My driver's info had my mpg at 22.7 of mixed driving (driven for almost 1K) which is not bad at all considering it is a 5000lbs "gentle mammoth". I would give a 5-star for the Hemi V8. The only one that shift smoother IMO was the MDX (too small and cramped for me) and the Highlander was just a so-so soccer mom vehicle.
Dodge has addressed alot of the quality issues, especially with the fit and finish of the vehicle. I believe that with this improvement it will bring back Dodge as a front-runner in the crowded CUV/SUV market. I only gave a 4-star for reliability because there was not really anything I can compare it to since the last-gen Durango was definitely not fit enough to be used as a benchmark.
This is the best Dodge vehicle not naming Charger out there on the road.
