- Nice size for our family. Decent fuel economy
- Durability / Craftsmanship
We own a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. We finally got it paid off and planned to keep it as a family vehicle for many years to come. However, we have had nothing but problems with this van and now that it is no longer covered by warranty the repair bills are stacking up. Here is a list of some of the problems - failed cruise control, replaced rack and pinion steering, leaking transmission fluid pan, windshield wiper trim fell off, front windshield gasket is loose and flaps in the wind ($200 to replace), right side slider door electric lock failure ( a safety concern for getting the kids out of the van in an emergency). We have taken excellent care of this van getting it serviced per schedule by our local Dodge dealer. I commute in an older Honda Civic which has been extremely reliable. My future plans are to get rid of this troubled van and go with a Honda Odyssey for our family vehicle. In addition, I was considering purchasing a Dodge Pickup but based on our experience with the quality of our Dodge van, I will probably look elsewhere.
