- Spacious, comfortable
Purchased As New
I am approaching the fifth year of owning this vehicle and I am dreading the fact that my extended warranty is ending. Since I plan on keeping the vehicle for a few more years I am strongly considering getting an aftermarket extended vehicle warranty. I'd love to sell it but it's not worth much so I'll keep it for a few more years and deal with the issues unless it gets out of hand.
The problem with my Caravan is that it has been extremely unreliable. I love the vehicle, I like the look, comfort, space and performance. It has made me a fan of mini-vans. The biggest issue is the problems that I've had with it. I assume that I have a lemon, but from what I gathered around the web there seems to be reliability issues with many owners. Maybe not as bad as mine though.
Over the last five years I have had to change:
- The front-end table bushings twice within one year
- Change the intake manifold gasket
- Replace cylinder heads
- Replace intake manifold
- Change the brakes thee times within one year
- Change transmission lines
and the list goes on.
I have been bringing it in for oil changes and other maintenance on schedule and I drive about 15 000km/9 320 miles per year.
If you are considering buying a used Caravan, I would strongly reconsider buying a 2006....read morehide

- good fuel economy, well built vehicle, great ride,
Purchased a factory grand Caravan, am really happy about the stability and the handling of the van! The stow and go feature was a true asset to the van! I sold these vans when they came on the market in the mid 80"s, and they were the talk of the people then, and here 20 years later, they are better than ever! The quality is still there, the ideas of the chrysler Corp. and the dream of Lee Iacocca have endured! I tried other makes and found that the interior room and the ease of getting in and out of the van can't be beat bny any of the competition! The grand Caravan was built to be the ultimate family car, and it has proven itself! Anyone looking for a van, the Grand Caravan is the answer!...read morehide

- Low base price, standard knee airbag, decent fuel economy
- acceleration(4cyl),middle row will not slide forward/aft
I bought a base 2006 Caravan SE 4cylinder with the power package and DVD entertainment option, overall I am pleased with the vehicle. It rides quite nice and the seats are comfortable. The DVD is a must if you have small children. My only real complaint so far is the fact that the middle row does not slide only recline, a small nuisance.I read many reviews before buying concerning the 4 cylinder engine and its lack of power and refinement and was somewhat skeptical until I got behind the wheel. While its no rocket its perfectly adequate for normal commuting, I take the freeway every day to work and have no problem passing vehicles or merging into traffic. Fuel economy isnt bad either Ive averaged about 22 MPG so far. If you are looking for a good basic family vehicle and dont want to spend too much I would recommend the ES version, while it doesnt have all the bells and whistles of the more upscale models it has everything you really need. Its perfect for small young families on a budget. If you are looking for real value in a minivan I would recommend going Dodge/Chrysler. Toyota and Honda are way too expensive not to mention the cost to ensure them.I paid $16,400 for mine after all rebates and incentives not bad considering some subcompact cars can cost nearly as much....read morehide

- Smooth ride, great driving "feel" and acceleration.
- Requires 87 octane vs. 85 so we have to pay a little more for gas.
Got this to replace a '99 Ford Windstar and so far it drives like a dream. Plenty of smooth power, great ride, lots of cool little tidbits included in this model that we didn't have on the Windstar. Tested out the Oddysey and Sienna too but couldn't beat the ride and value for the money since this is only used when the five of us are out together or we do our bi-weekly shopping. The Stow-n-Go is a wonderful system that allows us to transport larger items easily without having to remove seats. The fact that the doors are powered along with the liftgate and all buttons are on the key itself means you don't have to include another large piece on the keyring and I can do all this from quite a distance away. The stock CD radio system sounds really good - won't win any prizes at an audio show but it's great for standard equipment and seems to have plenty of audio power. The radio controls on the steering wheel are just another added little touch that makes this minivan a great replacement purchase for my family. I should add that our kids are not toddlers but teenagers so space and gadgets are more important to us than safety child seats and the like. Still a great vehicle - just needed to note for those reading this review....read morehide

- fits kids good, dvd player is nice, stoeand go is cool
we have had nothing but problems with our 2005. The dvd broke in the first week we have had 3 recalls the light stwich broke. now the battery keeps dying every no and again and the car lot JENSON IN PELLA IOWA keeps messing us around and can't seem to fix it rite they made us put a toggle stwich in our van to shut of some of the computers how nice is that !!! would you want to do that !! I bought a new van for my wife and kids so I could feel safe when they went some where but know we don't know how safe it is!!!
If it was me I would not by a brand new dodge van ever again for what you spend you think you would get somthing relibile or if you did get a bad one they would make it rite but they did not so know I got a 30000 piece of crap I trust my 800.00 work car more than our van...read morehide

- comfortable ride and low price
- unreliability, the quality of the overall finish of the van is poor
I bought my brand new grand caravan 4 mo. ago, this gave me enough time to know the vehicle well. During this time I had to bring the van back 5 times to the dealer ship to have the abnormal noise in the engine diagnosed and fixed it ends up that their is something wrong with the fan belt and a bolt that need to be replaced. I noticed too that chrysler is not paying much attention to small details that makes a difference, like wires that are sticking out of the door panelings uneven fit of the trimings wires sticking out under the drivers seat and in the engine, the rust in the engine block, Exposed wiring. I thought all this are normal in all vans not just to dodge, but I had a chance to inspect other mini vans in this period because I am trying to find another car and ends up wanting to sell my grand caravan because the siena, odysey, entourage etc.. have better built quality I didn't saw any of those exposed wires, engine rust, uneven trimings etc.. of MY mini van in those mini vans I mentioned....read morehide

- Comfortable Ride, Looks Great
- Keyless entry remote built into the key
My wife and I just purchased a Grand Caravan SE today. We are MORE than pleased with it. We took advice from people who have minivans, and were told the Dodge's run forever. The stow and Go Seating is a dream come true, and you feel like you are piloting a rocketship driving this beast, rather than driving a van. The built in child seats are an awesome feature, I had never even heard of such a device before I looked at this van.
We had compared vans over the last few months before making a purchase. We looked at the Grand Caravan, the Toyota Sienna, the Ford Freestar, the Chrysler T&C, and the Kia Sedona. The Dodge won us over in every major category. It was a tight race between the Grand Caravan and the Toyota Sienna LE, but dodge's sales staff seemed to be ALOT more upfront and honest with us than Toyota's. The van we purchased had the optional dvd player and flip down screen, and that is WONDERFUL, when you have 4 children under 6 like us.
Overall, I cannot stress enough that this is the BEST minivan on the market today for a family of 6. You will not be disappointed...read morehide
