- Overall very good, comforable ride, good fit & trim.
- No lite illuminating the ignition switch,or on door panel,or under hood
I have been driving Chrysler's minvans since 1984( I've owned 7 or 8) I've notice a marked improvement in the overall feel of quality and solidness in my 2002 Dodge Sport, and the 2006 SXT that I just leased.
I would like to see all wheel disk anti lock brakes & side curtain air bags as standard items....read morehide

- Comfortable front seats, roomy, ok mileage
- rear stow&go seats a bit stiff, no doors for rear storage, no adjustable vanity light
This is my 2nd grand caravan. My first was a 1998 SE (which I still have) that has 107k. I have replaced brakes & transmission on it. My 2006 SXT is a dream. It runs great, smooth ride. Lots of storage. controls are easily accessible from drivers seat thanks in part to the audio controls on the steering wheel. I love the flexibility in seating arrangements without the headache of storing seats in the garage-that rear bench in the 98 is HEAVY. My only real complaints about my 06 vs 98 is the visors and rear storage. In the 98 they had an extra pull out that would help shade to the rear view. Also my 98 had adjustable vanity lights on the visors. In the 06 the light is on and almost blinding if it is very dark out. As for the rear storage compartments in the 98 there are doors that latch to help keep things from flying/sliding around. The 06 are just open and shallow. It would be nice for them to close so you can't see whats in them from outside (my kids used these for their gameboys, disc player, etc). It also would have been nice if the headsets for the entertainment system would fit. My husband has parked his 97 Ford Ranger and just loves driving the 98. It is way more comfortable and flexible than his truck. My kids prefer the quad seating in the 98 to the 06- the 06 headrests are awkward and the seats are stiff. The only thing missing in the 06 as far as my husband is concerned is the lumbar control for the driver. My favorite features are the power doors & tailgate-groceries are easier to load/unload. I also opted to have the moonroof- a feature I wouldn't trade for anything. I will always own a van in addition to any other vehicle- they just make sense for travelling, hauling people & items, etc...I am sold on the grand caravan- more standard features for less money. I do believe they could improve mileage with out sacrificing a lot of power. I also believe they could give back the little things they took away without affecting the cost....read morehide

- The MANY standard SXT features, excellent/comfortable ride & handling, space/convenience.
We purchased our 1st '01 Grand Caravan Sport in 2000. Due to a situation, I had to trade my Pickup truck and use this minivan for work in the homebuilding trade. After enduring the snickers from co-workers, I had the last laugh! I removed the seats & made a removable plywood bedliner & rack to enable me to haul my power & hand tools and all kinds of building materials including 4x8 sheets of plywood and not get them wet! (You could say I abused this minivan) But it would cleanup great and comfortably carry 7 large adults in formal wear in the evening. We've moved our daughter to college, furniture, camping, skiing, you name it. It was a great all around vehicle. Comfortable too (no driver fatigue after 10 hr drive!) The only problem we ever had was the driver side power window motor failed. The warranty covered & replaced it.
NOW, the 2006 is even better! The STANDARD features w/ the SXT far exceed the competition. The Sto-n-go seats speak for themselves. You can fold down ANY/All seats (also reverse-flip rear seats for tailgating) When seats are up you have stow compartments under floorboards for tools, toys etc. The POWER/MANUAL/REMOTE-KEY combination for slider doors and hatch is not possible or costs several thousands $ extra w/ competitors. Add: 3.8 V-6, 4-wheel discs, alloy wheels, traction control, on-steering tilt/cruise & audio controls, front/rear climate control, full power package, to name a few! (Additional options are also available, but we didnt want/need them)We purchased in Feb '06, got $3000 off "FEB Special" and $1000 off for "Chrysler Loyalty" totalling around $24K. Even at the Dealer Sticker price, it beats the competition. MORE VALUE FOR A GREAT PRICE, WE LOVE IT!...read morehide

- The ride, features, simple interior, just a good all around mini van.
- Gas Mileage could be better. Need to watch the transmission.
I got the Grand Caravan SXT 2006 which is very much like the one I had with my 1999 Se. I like the package with lights and heater/ac vents by the passanger seats all around. It has the dual air controls. I got the none folding to the floor caption chairs. I like the heavier duty standard chairs. I believe they sit better. I recomend using mobile one motor oil always when changing for a good life of this engine. For the first 30 mins. when the engine is warming up. There is water coming out of the tail pipe. This is normal, but using the mobile one synthetic motor oil keeps the piston, rings, and sleeves lubercaded during this warming up. There is no rust forming in the engine. I got 260,000 on my 1999 grand caravan Se because of this. I still have my older Grand Caravan. I wish they would have had the better warranty like they use to. That was a good selling point before. I got the extended warranty on everything good untill 150K miles. It is worth the extra money spent. Gas mileage could be much better. The AT transmission on this model is still weak like my 1999. don't punch this transmission. Make sure the shifting lever is in each slot when shifting. I believe there is something wrong with the design with their shifter. I have it the same problem with my 1999. also come to a complete stop when backing and changing the transmission. Don't gun the transmission like a police car also. I believe you should let the computer do its job in shifting the transmission. I see so many people shifting the transmission before a complete stop. Also with the ABS brakes you don't have to slam them. Just easy in on them. Let the system do the breaking. I switched to micheln tires with 80K life. I believe it gives a better ride under Los Angeles hwy. driving conditions.
I like the Dodge Grand Caravan. I believe people that are writing review comments on other vehicles and makes and models are sales people running down someone elses products. I just read the same negative stuff on so many other makes and models. That I know is not true from people who are driving them. My ex wife has a old 1994 Caravan same engine and new transmission, exhause system, and standard other things replaced with over 400K on the engine. It is still running strong....read morehide

- Good fuel economy, beautiful shape, leader in innovations, fair price
The Dodge Grand Caravan is the best van in the market because it is fair in price, good fuel economy, beautiful shape, reliable, easy to maintain and has the innovations which is copied by Honda, Ford and GM. I rely on Daimler Chrysler cars for their reliability, reputation and engineering knowledge to come out with quality vehicles rather than quatity products like other manufacturers to be in competition. I believe that Dodge vans are the standard bearers in the industry and for that reason, they are in the forefront on the industry....read morehide

The only downside to this van, is lack of convenience space i.e. sunglasses, coins, remote control, etc. Having just upgraded to a SXT Special Edition, you get a great sunroof, but you lose the overhead rail system. There is NO under passenger drawer - if you have a power seat, you lose the drawer. There are no cubbies build into rear side panels for extra cd's or remote for the entertainment center. The stow'n'go seating is great, but Dodge's head went out the window for this "high-end" model when it comes to the driver's ease of storage options. Note: if you don't go for the SXT Special Edition, you do get some of these cubbies back....read morehide

- second and third row fold in floor seating, great value for the money, daul power doors come standard
- head restraints can be improved,a little engone whine, the velour seating upolstri is a slight drab
this van is a great value for the money.only proplems we had is the power door came off its tracs (my fault). it is nice beeing able to open or close the doors manuelyor by power not like those junk power dorrs from gm,honda, toyota which can only work by power.stow and go is amazing no bulky seats to lug around.you can also get stow and go on the grand caravan se with the plus package.the grand caravan is tht king of all minivans!!!! the rear climate control is great and when the vans got redesigned in 2001 they moved the rear climate controls from the drivers rear to the center rear.i love the power tailgate(optional $400 or with the leather interior group$2930 or with the premium package$1795) with the sienna you have to pay $31000 just to get a power tailgate on the odyssey you have to pay $37000 just to get a power tailgate!!!our window sticker was $34567 and the delar lowerd it to$23789 with the odyssey you have to pay msrp no deal!!!this is a great deal over the honda, toyota.dodge is the king of minivans and nobody can beat that never.also actuly volkswagen was but the vanagon waent the minivan that could remove the seats with the pull of a lever.volkswagena are a great value too.volkswagens are on of the safest cars around.they are also dependable....read morehide
