- Style, design, Stow N Go seating, power doors, and more.
- Rotors were shaved down at 8,500K miles, then all new brake job at 14K miles!
I drove a plain jane 98 Plymouth Voyager for seven years that I was very pleased with; when the a/c went out, we made the decision to pay $1,200 to have it fixed, so it could be driven for a few more years; but the a/c was never totally fixed and/or wasn't acceptably cold enough to drive in Houston summers.
When we decided to get new vehicle, I drove the Chevy Uplander van, and the Saturn Relay van, only to be very overwhelmed with the prices. I told myself that if I was going to spend that much money, I'll go get what I know that I like. After driving the plain jane 06 Caravan (which didn't even have the same bare bones features as my 98 van!), we kept looking on the lot and finally decided on a Grand Caravan SXT with Stow N Go seating and all power ... drive out total was $25K. Oh, and I'm a GM brat -- could've gotten any GM product with my Dad's employee discount, but really liked the Chrysler van.
I absolutely LOVE my van and all the features, style, design, comfort, sound system, handling, unbelievable cargo space, seating configurations -- until my van began wobbling upon braking at under 9K miles. The dealer didn't replace the rotors, they only shaved them down (not good). Then the same thing happened at 14K miles. This time the dealer would not fix them nor would Chrysler recognize them as a warranty issue, even after the first issue. The service jerk at the dealer told me I was too hard on my brakes, boy that went over well. So, we paid nearly $400 for new rotors and pads.
Now, my van has 23K miles, and just tonight something in the front end is "popping" when the van is being steered around a corner.
I'm very disappointed, to say the least. My husband will take the van to our personal repair guy in the morning.
