2007 Dodge Grand Caravan
There are 14 user reviews for the SXT trim shown below
- Roomy and reliable
- not great gas economy
Purchased As Used
This is my third Grand Caravan. The first went over one hundred thousand miles, my last one went 170,000 miles and was still going strong but things were starting to wear out. The engine was strong and the transmission felt solid. This is my latest and I am loving it. Much quieter and smoother operating. Finally have stow and go so don't have to lug seats around anymore....read morehide

- excellent driving and comfort, so far great value for money.
- Would be nice to be able to carry 4'x8' materials inside-in one piece.
Purchased As New
Purchased new in 2007, extremely flexible and reliable - sofar.
They could have plugged some of the trim screw holes.
fitting /securing of some trim could have been better - "Canook union workers"....
Original brake pads/shoes are ****.

- Poor gas mileage, terrible handling, nothing is good.
I bought this car in March 2007 ago. Nothing wrong until 3 months ago. I have transmission, gate, lights, brake, and doors problem so far. I don't know how many times I go to dealer to get fix. I should listening to my friends suggestion: Never buy Dodge/Chrysler. I really think I make the biggest mistake in my life. I should buy Sienna or Odyssey. American cars' initial building quality is good, but after a few years later, their quality is poor, I mean very poor. #1 Seller doesn't mean anything....read morehide

- Good fuel economy compared to earlier models, Stow & Go seating, huge cargo area.
- Transmission iffy, rough ride - though it may be tires, seating cheal compared to earlier models
I had a 98 Grand Voyager with 117K and on its 2nd tranny. Still the car ran like a charm and very comfortable - it was tired, though, and since we didn't like the boxy 08s we went with the 07. Got a great deal, sight unseen (our dealer had it driven from another). We were disappointed in the seating - flimsy compared to the 98 - thin foam (I can feel the metal framework) and the second row captain's chairs are skimpy seating - I realize they had to sacrifice some plushness to accomplish stow & go but I think they cut too many corners. We immediately drove from NY to Boston and encountered tranny issues (shuddering in shifts from1 to 2 and 2 to 3, and an overall rough ride compared to the 98. Took it to Dealer who performed TSB fix for the tranny yet same issue reappeared the next day (I need to go back). They also don't feel the "rough ride." Overall it is a great van for the money and hopefully the tranny & tire quirks are rectified. Still, I don't expect to keep this one for ten years. Too bad....read morehide

- Bullet-proof reliability, good gas mileage, great handling
- Bridgestone Turanza tires, brakes could be better
We have a well equipped 2005 Grand Caravan SXT with the 3.8L V6, Stow'n'Go seating, power sliding doors and liftgate, six disk CD/DVD stereo with rear entertainment center, 4-wheel disc brakes, ABS, traction control, 3-zone auto climate control, sunroof, rear park sensors, power seats, wndows, locks, security system, rear heater+A/C. etc. We already have 74,000 rattle and squeak-free miles on it and it has been one of the best vehicles I've ever owned in 30+ years of driving. Fuel mileage runs 18 MPG city, 21 MPG for my mixed driving commute, and we've hit over 27 MPG on the highway at 65-70MPH with 5 adults onboard.
My driving style is "spirited" to say the least and this van will easily do over 100 MPH if you want it to. The handling is better than many sedans I've owned. It handles curves and off-ramps etremely well for the type of vehicle it is. You can push it hard and it won't complain.... except for the OEM Bridgestone Turanza tires that came with it. They squeal even at slow speeds around corners and the sidewalls fold like a wet papertowel. The lasted 47,000 miles (not bad), but I replaced them with Michelin Hydroedges which improved handling, braking, and snow/rain traction tremendously.
It's pretty quick off the line and loves to cruise.....maybe too much. Chrysler has clearly geared this for fuel economy and once it picks up momentum it just wants to keep on going. When you let your foot up off the gas pedal it doesn't really want to slow down. As a result you find yourself tailgating people at first until you adjust your driving style to leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you. That brings us to the brakes which are just adequate. I'd like a stronger set of brakes with a firmer pedal feel. They will stop you in a very controlled, straight manner and the ABS functions well when you need it. The front brake pads lasted 52,000 miles and I just replaced the rears pads at 71,000 miles.
The only downside we've found is that the 2nd row Stow'n'Go bucket seats seem to lack enough padding. They can get uncomfortable on long trips for adults, but the kids don't seem to notice because they don't weigh enough to fully compress the seat cushions.
By the time we're ready to buy another this one will likely have about 200,000 miles on it. Based on the 100% reliability we've experienced so far, I have no doubt it will last that long. We're almost half way there already....read morehide

- pretty decent fuel economy when compare to a durango.
- could improve on quietness of the ride.
I have owned 4 Dodge/chrysler vans and have enjoyed most all of thier features. Can't beat it when you traval and have 4 kids to run around to various events through out the week.
Love the stow and go feature. Handles great, very comfortable all around vehicle. If you campare this vehicle to a large SUV you can't be the fuel mileage on these Vans.
Could improve on the quietnes of the road niose. But all in all a very good product....read morehide

- Got the Dodge Grand Caravan at 0% interest for 60 months! This is a great country!
- If it is always this way, I'm going to replace this van every 2-3 years!
I got excited on my purchase on getting the 0% interest rate for 60 months, after waiting for the chance to own a brand new Dodge Grand Caravan. I have liked the comfort level of it and the quiet cabin it provides on long trips while listening to my satellite radio. The performance and fuel economy is one of the bright spots for this van....read morehide

- Has been a good family vehicle.
- Other reviewers are blowing smoke up your tailpipe.
1998 model:At 91,000 miles we have the transmission rebuilt 2x. The ABS system has gone out 2x. The cooling system has been fixed 2x. The overall experience is good when it is working. I don't know which Chrysler employees are submitting the other rosy reviews.

- Very good quality van to keep, use or lease. Would be disappointed!
- There will always be minor little things, but I don't care. All vehicles have them!
This Dodge Grand Caravan does not need 100 or 300 reviews to convince people or owners how good it is, they can feel and sense it by just the tests drive or driving it around. It is the first and tested van over 20 years and somehow the Dodge engineers have perfected almost what should be added or removed from previous models. That is experience on their part! Try one and feel the difference!...read morehide
