I did my research on which crossover I wanted to buy. I love the look of the Journey. We test drove one and loved the way it handled. I have had my 2010 for 10 months and in that time I have had it in the shop 3 times. They can't find anything wrong with the transmission but the thing jerks and bangs when you put it in gear and I have had it hesitate when pulling out into traffic and then jerk. Now it is surging while driving down the road. The brake peddle loses pressure while setting at stop lights. I am worried how long this thing will last. I purchased the extented warranty and so glad I did, who knows when this thing is going to puke! It's a gas hog too. The third row seat is a joke unless you have no legs you are not getting in. My grown daughter has to climb in the trunk to get to the back seat. Sigh...First new car I have been able to buy in 20 years and I pray it lasts....read morehide

Great vehicle compariable to ford edge. More reliable and easy to service, make sure to change out wheels on either vehicle. Do not get 19 inch rims on anything. Friend has same vehicle with 19s can't find tires. We have no problem with our 16s

I already covered most of the issues i had in my first post, but i wanted to add some things i just remembered. After the first few months of owning the Journey we noticed it shook a lot when you hit the brakes. Took it in for the usual maintenance and found out our rotors were warped. We had them replaced and they replaced the front brakes. We just had the back brakes replaced this month because they were apparently worn, but now the brake pedal feels a bit spongy. You push down and you can feel some slowing but not enough to stop. Push a little farther and its almost like you slamed on the brakes cause it just stops. The Journey has been nothing but a headache. Plus it is not really built for space when you have two car seats and a booster seat. Either my family is above the norm on height or this vehicle is just not for any one over 5' 7". Wehn we got it the kids were smaller and we had two rear facing seats and a car seat every thing was great. Now we are all too big to fit in this car. Also getting into the back row is difficult if you have two car seats. You always have to take one out and your best bet is to put it in the very back if you want to have more passengers. You have to fold down part of the second row to get in the back and there are no car seat clips if you have to put a car seat in the back. Overall for a family with kids that still have to have a five point harness car seat for more then two kids DO NOT get the Journey. Also if you run a little on the tall side this is not the car for you. I'm 5'7" and with my seat pulled forward but not so much that it is uncomfortable for me my two year old can still kick my seat and she is considered short for her age group. Also, if you are the driver the drive is great on bumpy roads. If you happen to be the passengers it is not great. You will feel most of the bumps and the second row is worse then that. I hope this helps those of you who like me once absolutely loved the Journey....read morehide

- Pros
- 7 Passenger vehicle
- Cons
- can here road noise; has been in the shop a lot

We have now had this car for a whole year. We bought it because it was a seven passenger vehicle and we needed more space for all five of us. We also got it because we thought it would last a while and we want to have one more child eventually. That was not the case. As i stated we have had the car a whole year and as soon as we passed the one year mark it started acting up. First there was a leak in the transmission and the part had to be ordered. Once the dealership got the part they found out it was not the same as the one off our car. So they had to take one of another journey to fix the car cause they had already had it for a week. July has been great. We had it towed because the engine was over heating, there was already a recall out for the not starting all the time issue. Chrysler Group only covered 10 miles so they took it to a different dealer then where we bought it. When the dealership got it they said it was because of a freon leak in the dash that was causing the coolent to dump out the overflow tube. They fixed the freon and about one thousand later we get the car back. Two weeks later the car is dumping coolant like crazy, and the engine overheats again. We stop and i have to walk my daughters, ages 2 and 1, the five blocks left to their school/daycare. Call the dealer we bought it from and they are going out of business so they wont tow. Call Chrslyer but we are over 36,000 miles so they wont tow. Call another dealer and they will work on the car but we have to find our own way there. So USAA to save the day. Got a tow and a discounted rental while our only vehicle is in the shop. Sad thing is we have been wanting to get a second vehicle and we had finnally saved enough to do it and out brand new car keeps breaking down. In July alone we have had to pay over $2000 in repairs and rental fees. Are the car companys purposely building vehicles that fall apart after one year? I want it gone and i think i will stay away from Dodge!...read morehide

- Love the appearance
- Cons
- 5 times in shop already, poor fuel economy

I loved my journey for the first 14000 kms/8 months of ownership. Now it currently sits for the 5th time at the dealership for repair, towed in twice. Journey would lose all engine power, and almost shake you out of your seat. Dealer has had to flush out carbon from engine. that worked for a week. Engine has now been taken apart and cleaned. Packed with carbon again! Picked it up and turned around after 5 kms and left it there again. Still not fixed!
New pads and rotors already! 17-19 MPG!
I have checked with other dealers/Journey owners and am not alone! Wish I had my truck back, it got better mileage!...read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Nice Looking, and is pretty quick..

- WOW. I am honestly getting about 10-12 MPG on this thing. I traded my F150 for this and regret it.

The Gas mileage is TERRIBLE on this car. I traded in my dream truck for this Crossover because of the rising gas prices, and it bit me in the you know what. I can honestly say I am getting between 10-12 MPG on this thing. THE WINDOW STICKER SAID 18-24 MPG, BUT IT IS WAY OFF.... Ride is smooth, but all I find myself doing is watching the gas guage. Rear camera and radio is in a terrible spot....read morehide

- Pros
- styling, storage
- Cons
- gas mileage, rear view mirror
Purchased As New
I bought my 2010 in November. I love the styling, it looks great, has decent clearance, tons of storage in this thing. I really do like this car. BUT!!! The gas mileage sucks. I mean really sucks. I went from a minivan to this and figured I would be happy if it got what the van got. It is listed as 19/26 but I am telling you, I drive around with the gas economy displayed and it has never gotten over 14.7. And to tell you the truth, I don't even think that is accurate. It feels worse. It sucks to have a nice vehicle and not be able to roll in it because you can't afford the gas. It feels like all I am doing is driving back and forth to work to make the money it keeps sucking up. The rearview mirror is pretty much useless also. The field of vision is filled up with the headrests from the rear seats. I usually buy a new vehicle every four of five years so I am stuck with this one for awhile. I can guarantee it will have alot lower mileage on it than any of the last four or five new vehicles....read morehide

- Nice ride, plenty of power, very good options available
- Cons
- mpg isn't great (19 - 23)

We love our Journey, it's cheaper than the edge or traverse, and rides better than the escape or equinox. Ours had some really neat options and fits us perfectly.
