Ok, last week my 2009 Honda CR-V just died on the highway. The transmission was replaced three times during warranty all under 15,000 miles. Even though the transmission was covered under warranty, read the fine print!! I ended up paying $3000 every time. The breaks also needed replacing and resurfacing every 5,000 miles. And when the engine blew on the turnpike i called AAA and they towed my car right to the Honda dealer so i could sell it back to them for $12,000 with only 15,000 miles, i cant believe it, I lost 0ver $8,000 in less than 3 years, thats honda for you! The my wife's Toyota Sienna just died on the way back from Costco. The Breaks , transmission, and engine all needed replacing on the Sienna under 12,000 miles. The car was new and was the limited model that cost $38,000 but when I traded it after 5 month i got only $20,000 back, thats an $18,000 price lost, wow right, thats toyota for you! So my wife told our neighbor and he recommended to get a 2007 doge Nitro, the one he had. He had it for 5 years he said, has over 150,000 miles on it, and doesn't do any maintenance. He said that the Nitro is one of the only vehicles that doesn't need break maintenance. So my we bought 2 used 2007 Nitros and absolutelyt loove it. The cars had 20, 000 miled and we each put on 70,000 miles on it. The car is a dream. We have still the manufacture breaks with no problems and no maintenance needed. I like to say that consumer reports has much opinion and no facts. They gave the Nitro a 33 when it deserved a 100. They say the breaks are bad, yeah right, they are good. I went on 6 trips from ny to florida, and the catskills. The 4WD is great and the 4.0L 5 speed auto gives me 30 mpg on hwy and 26 mpg on city. The car firs six people, the audio is great and i only go to the dealer for oil changes. I recomend that you get is asap. I will buy another 2007 used(since they are good) for my teenage daughter. Remember dont make the same mistake with honda and toyota, juust save money and buy a DODGE NITRO~!!!!!!!!~...read morehide

- Style, Size, Features Offered
- Seats a little stiff (but will probably get better w/use)
I have been looking at the R/T model for almost a year now and finally got one. I would not trade it for anythin at this point. No problems yet. A big selling point for me was the lifetime powertrain warranty - also purchased the lifetime extended warranty. Bumper to bumber warranty for as long as I own it! Considering I usually keep a vehicle for 10+ years, I think it will be worth it! As far as gas mileage, I can't complain - it is getting the 17 mi/gal as advertised. I love my Nitro and my commute to & from work is actually enjoyable now :) or at least as good as it can be now that I have a sweet ride....read morehide

- Stylish looks, get lots of double takes. Runs smooth and is spacious for a mid-sized SUV. I love it!
- Does not come standard with navigation or DVD video systems.
This car is awesome. We live in the mountains and it handles very well, climbing up to above 10,000 feet elevation during heavy snow and icy conditions. Is able to maintain on the highway very well. Fuel economy is not as expected but 22 mpg is ok. I am very satisfied with my Nitro.

- Looks Great!!!
- Runs like a ran with broken legs!!!
I have had my new 2007 Dodge Nitro R/T for 3 months. At first I loved it. I have since had it in the dealership 5 times for multiple things. The windshield has leaked and been fixed twice. They has flashed every computer twice. My trottle has stuck wide open twice and the second time it went to 90 before it stopped. Your breaks have a real hard time slowing down a suv stuck wide open. Good thing nothing was in front of me. My husband and our kids would have been put in a real bad situation. By the way the dealership can't reduplicate the problem. Funny that they say that about half the time. Anyway we here in Ohio have a wonderful Lemon law and we have an attorney who is definite we will win the case. I am going to be sad in a way to let my nitro go because I love how it looks. I just hate switching two car seats back and for every other week to their crappy rental car. Plus the warranty will run out eventually and I am not paying for a lemon...read morehide

- great looks, nice ride, attention getter!
- multitudes of mechanical problems
Great looking and riding truck!! Average MPG.. but the car doesn't stay running.. stalled many times on freeways and city streets! Seat belt quit working, sunroof started squeaking, car pulls and loses power.. then lurches forward! If you get a good one it's great.. but thank God for Ohio's strict lemon law.. Dodge now has their Nitro back.. the dealer said "nothing was wrong" with it.. but Chrysler obviously didn't agree when they bought it back! Buy with caution! I loved the way it looked and drove.. if they could guarantee me no mechanical failure I would buy another.. now I'm off to Toyota......read morehide

- Heater is strong, very quiet ride
- air conditioner not quite cool enough
My husband bought me the R/T in April and we had to wait until May for delivery since there were none yet in our area, and he decked it out so much that it had to be custom built. I LOVE MY NITRO!!! Not only is it a beautiful vehicle to look at, but the ride and the styling is awesome. I drove 4 other people on a road trip and everyone was comfortable throughout the entire journey. My husband loves to drive it too, and we use it for all our trips and errands. I still get stopped in parking lots and gas stations etc by people wanting to know what it is and what I think of it.
The amenities on it make driving a pleasure. The navigation system is very easy to work with, and I will never do without it again, the handsfree phone is really neat, and the rest of the interior is so easy to see and use. The 20 " wheels really add some flash to the exterior that already has such awesome styling. The heater is incredible, though I did find that the airconditioner did not cool as much as I would have liked. I was looking at the Highlander when I saw the Nitro and never looked back.
It has some serious "get-up-and-go" which seems to surprise others on the freeway who do not expect an SUV to be able to accelerate so quickly. And the Dodge grill and the fog lights in the review mirror are very intimidating! I cannot say enough wonderful things about my Nitro. I would buy this car again in a minute!...read morehide

- great size, nice interior
- poor gas milage, ac doesnt work well
this car has some great features on the interior, it is comfortable to sit in for long distances and rides very smooth. the gas milage is very poor and the AC does not perform well when it is hot out.

Aesthetically, this mid size SUV out rivals all others in its class. I have received so many double takes from on lookers, I can't even count and my husband and I have only had it 1 week. It's stylish and bold. We put chrome tubular side rails and it accents the 20' chrome wheels. The ride is so smooth (must be that sports suspension my husband keeps raving about), the leather trimmed seats are very comfortable and it's roomier than I expected it to be. THAT LOAD- AND-GO IS AWESOME!!! One feature that I will NEVER be able to live without is the UConnect. That is the best hands free device Ive ever encountered and it sounds crystal clear on both ends.
We have the RT which is a 4.0 liter engine. IT SUCKS GAS! We've filled this car up at least six times this week at $30.00 a pop (that's because we never let it get past the 1/2 tank mark. In any case we've put 1,100 miles on it in 7 days, but on the same note, have probably spent close to $200.00(remember, we've only had it 1 week). The manual says that mid grade is the best for the vehicle so that's all we've been using (an average of $3.50 per gallon). We've decided to use the NITRO only on the weekends. BUT, wouldn't give this vehicle up for the world. That's why we still have our commuter cars :-).
THIS CAR IS INCREDIBLY AWESOME. My husband and I did our research, scouted around for the perfect Nitro and finally traded the PT Cruiser in for this RT. Get this, it only increased our insurance rate by 9 dollars from the PT Cruiser. After waiting for nearly 6 months to purchase one, we finally found it and bought it. We've not look back since!! This RT 4x4 version has get up and go power like you can't believe. Since it's the beginning of summer, we cant wait until winter for the snow to try out the 4x4. My hubby is so proud of the bold, masculine look of the NITRO. He's all smiles when driving down the road....read morehide

I just picked up my nitro R/T 4x4 and I love it but i did think it would handle a little bit better being an R/T because it does fell a little top heavy at higher speeds but other than that I would not change a thing about it anybody that says it needs more power should buy the jeep SRT8 and the gas bill to go with it. I do suggest the R/T model over the SLT model and get as many features as possible on it....read morehide
