My wife and I purchased our Sprinter in Sept of 04. We left western PA and have been on the road since then. It is now Feb 05 we have traveled over 17,000 mi and we are in Palm Springs CA. I could have sold 50 Sprinters along the way. Everybody wants to know about it. We get stopped all the time. We have nothing but praises for this excellent vehicle. What a way to travel. We removed the back two seats and set up a vehicle closet system via Ikia. Works great and keeps us organized....read morehide

- Pros
- Tall ceiling, fuel economy
- Cons
- Feels unstable in high wind, Huge blind spots, Difficulty getting service.
I've had this Dodge Sprinter on the road for a month now and I've driven about 15,000 km. I really only have a few complaints about safety of this vehicle. The passenger side mirror really needs to be convex rather than the flat style that came standard, the shifter switches gears a bit to easily and can often result in accidental down/upshifting, and warnings that come up in the LCD display prevent the driver from seeing what gear the vehicle is in. I've also found that when passing a larger vehicle or driving in winds of 20 kmh or more the van gets blown around quite a bit, more than other North American vehicles I've driven.
Minor complaints include the driver seat having insufficient padding, the cupholders are on the floor, the steering wheel is too far from the driver seat, insufficient storage space for things that need to be at hand like cell phone, cigarettes, gum, etc.
This vehicle doesn't seem to have been designed for long distance driving, but for city couriers and trades/service people the extra ceiling height, sliding side door, and peppy but quiet engine could be important selling points. And way the fuel economy should appeal to everyone....read morehide3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

I bought my Sprinter new, I now have over 13,000 miles, mix of 75% highway
& 25% city,24 MPG, running lighty loaded mosty. Too bad so little support from Dodge / Freightliner. Should have kept it Mercedes-Benz as the rest of the World "sees" it.I run a crane for hire service & use my Sprinter to check out job sites in advance, most people want to "Look it over", very quiet diesel, plenty of Zip....read morehide4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

I had one of these vans and looking into getting another. This German import van is great. It may not look flashy but it gets GREAT fuel mileage 22-25mpg is just great in a vehicle this size. It also has plenty of cargo space and being able to stand up and walk around in the high roof van saves your back....read morehide

So, Dodge stopped building their normal full sized vans.... Is that such a bad thing? Don't get me wrong, I'm a Mopar nut from WAY back and haven't had too many forays outside the Mopar fold since the 80s....
Dodge's old 'B-body' full size vans were destined for a revamp. They were big, old, ugly, and haven't changed nearly at all since the late 70s.... Sure, they've updated look from time to time, given it a new look every once in a while, but the basic vehicles dates way, WAY back. Since it is so costly to invent a whole new platform - why not just take something from a subsidiary and market it? It's worked for Chrysler for years - not to mention GM and Ford, as well.
Most full size vans are used as delivery vehicles and mini buses for airports and such. This is a worthwhile replacement.......read morehide1 out of 6 people found this review helpful.
