2005 Dodge Sprinter Wagon User Reviews
2500 High Ceiling 118-in. WB shown
- $8,835 - $10,118
- Fuel Economy, Merc. Styling, Good handling/steering, Visibility
- Stiff ride when empty. Needs 6th gear for Highway, Carpet would be nice
Fuel Economy is EXCELLENT. Averaged 25.8 in mixed driving last week. View out is excellent. I can see over Suburbans, Expeditions and some jacked up pickup trucks. We have a bright silver Freightliner with optional wheels. People think it's a Mercedes. The seats aren't plush but they're very supportive for long trips (we got the comfort seat option). On the minus side it needs a 6th gear for the highway. The engine gets harsh over 70mph. Floor material is easy to clean but we'll be installing carpet next month. We've had it almost a year now and love it!...read morehide

- Looks good,great fuel economy,spacious,enough power,good transmission,cool A/C,high visibility,etc.
- some options should be standard like;F/R insulation,cruise control,parabolic mirrors,backup alarm
This van is a good alternative to the mini vans or a full size van because it seats 10 persons and still has enough cargo space for luggages. The passengers can stand up inside up to 6'1" tall instead of crouching to get seated. With the fuel prices going up, a 5 cylinder is the way to go, not too small (4 cylinder) or not big (6 or 8 cylinder),back up by German reliability of Mercedes Benz. The only thing I haven't seen are the twin sliding doors for the passenger van which would benefit people getting in & out. Due to the height, it would not fit my garage but it is a compromise I'm willing to accept. For you be the judge!...read morehide

- Headroom, cargo room,
- ride,seats,steering wheel, noise
My company switched to these vehicles. I was previously driving a mini-van. There is a lot more room in the back with the Sprinter. The turning radius is surprisingly good. Lots of headroom as well. The steering column cannot be adjusted, and it is very high. A divider wall was put in behind the seat, so I cannot recline the seat at all. I am sitting ramrod straight on what can only be described as the worst seats known to modern man. Every bump is transmitted from the road through a very stiff ride through those horrible seats. I was also surprised at the sheer ugliness of it as well. The wheels are tiny, and it is top heavy. The side mirrors are manually adjusted, and they are positioned too low to see the back up mirror attached in the rear. The cabin noise is very, very loud. This vehicle is like driving a rental truck. It's loud, uncomfortable, and you don't want to be in it. It is okay for limited driving in town, with great cargo space.Driving longer distances could prove detrimental to your sanity and your spine....read morehide

- No trim specified for this review
- excellent fuel economy, almost unbelievable! lots of seat adjustments.
- noisy road noise & sheetmetal.
To be fair! I only test drove this. I am impressed with its size & roomy-ness. It got up to speed nicely, no hesitaion. easy to drive, drove the largest one. I will state I own a 04' Chevy Duramax & warranty is 100,000 miles, not 1/3rd of 70,000 miles. the Sprinter attracts me due to its high fuel econy, even when fully loaded & spacious size for business use only. Not impressed about towing. I don't see it as comfortable vacation coach. The passenger seats like that of a bus, no long term comfort. Even GM's Safari/Astro has better standard seats (owned 2). Definitely requires some custom upfits. Great for business use though. Seems to be inexpensively priced to allow you to customize to personal comfort level...read morehide
