Bought one with the 2.7L engine 3 months ago with 41,500 miles on it and have put 1,500 on it since then. Some highway, a lot around town. Car gets 26mpg combined for me. Handles very well, great acceleration, quite, comfortable. So far so good, I am very happy with the car and recommend it.

- Pros
- It's definetly a fast sporty good looking car, I love driving it.
- Cons
- When I put the petal to the metal it seems to use more gas, low profile tires are not good for it.
Purchased As Used
I really love my sporty car, but it seems to hit hard on pavement(a hard bump) when I drive it maybe because of the low profile tires. Is there anything I can do so it don't use so much gas when I drive over a certain speed limit. I was thinking of a tune up, but I don't think it needs one.I'll have to talk to my mechanic....read morehide

- No trim specified for this review
- Pros
- good on fuel, good lumber support, handles very well, V6 has great acceleration
- Cons
- back seat headroom is insufficient, rear view is reduced, brake pads cheap
Mine is a 2003 with 60,000 mls on it, never had a problem except for the brake pads wearing down and uneven way before their time. Its fun to drive and has a very smooth and quiet ride. Windows in back roll only half ways and for being a sport-type car I think that was a mistake. Ample trunk room. Cupholders too low. Good solid body....read morehide

- Pros
- great highway economy, lasts forever, wonderful car, fun to drive, comfy!
- Cons
- dashboard short (in my car's year, anyway)
I have loved, actually loved, two cars: my 1980 Chrysler LeBaron (my first), and my 1999 Dodge Stratus (my current). There is a common theme here, of course. Chrysler and Dodge are the same people.
I got my Stratus new, and eight years later I'm still very much in love with it. Here's a list of problems I've had with it in that time:
Short in the headlight switch causes the dash to go out (meaning you don't know how fast you're going, how much gas you have, etc.). It's an easy fix, I've been told - I just haven't been bothered enough by it to take it in yet.
In the middle of a road trip it sputtered and died while going 70 mph. There was a little water in the gas. Not the car's fault. Mechanic said he never gets Stratus' in because people just don't have problems with them.
Hideous sound when turning sharply. Added a little steering fluid - problem solved.
And that's it. Eight years, over 100,000 miles, and I've had three little problems. Not bad, eh? I'm looking at new cars now, only because I've breached the 100,000 mile mark, but I don't think I want anything other than another Stratus. I love it just as much now as I did the day I got it. I've gotten up to 33mpg with this thing on the highway, and it's so comfortable that even 12 straight hours of driving isn't painful... well, not physically.
To summarize: I love my Stratus, and my Stratus loves me too....read morehide3 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Roomy, smooth ride, fast, good handling, gas milage
- Cons
- very basic and dated interior, unlocked gas port door, radio antenna requires a wrench to remove
I Love this car its a great value for the money! the pros far outweight the cons, the only pain is having to remove the radio antenna with a wrench everytime i go to the carwash.
I wish the radio would have a simple MP3 input. literally would cost 1 or 2 dollars to add and would be a wonderful feature....read morehide2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Looks, handling
- Cons
- road noise
I bought an '04 demo new in 05. Bought $6500 below invoice including $4K incentive from the factory.
Performance is more than adequate but you won't win many races. I did however do quite well againest a Chrysler 300C in a short slalom, the R/T holds the road very well.
It will be interesting to see how it does this winter with the performance tires and traction control in the snow.
The AutoStick is great!
On smooth asphalt, the car is very quiet, but on rough pavement, it is very noisy inside, this is due to the handling package with performance tires.
Economy is pretty good considering the overall package. I am getting 25.2 MPG combined city/highway. 22.+ in the city if your not too aggresive with the throttle....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Great Appearance, Value & Comfort!!
- Cons
- Not soo good Gas Mileage
I love my Stratus, I get lots of looks, it is very comfortable, and a nice ride. Has enough room for my family of five, all of us could probably fit in the truck. However, the gas milage isn't that great, about 20 in the city. Which is ok~~ I would however recommend this car to anyone!!!!

- Pros
- 30+ gas milage, great look, roomy , traction control/abs saved my life this morning.
- Cons
- low Accelration, side rear view mirror too small, engine make a bit buzzing noise at 27000 miles.
I was doing 55 mph on US route 1 highway in tropical storm rain when my left front tire hit a pool of water. There were cars to my right and behind no more than 50 yards away. Had there been no traction control, my car would have spun and I would have lost control. Since the cars around me were coming at the speed, they would have hit me at that speed! But thankfully, traction control kicked in and learned my lesson. It is a very safe car! The car has a big wheel base which provides great stability and quick response. I cant figure out how they can do that with providing great gas mileage. I have a ford Explore at home but I prefer to drive my stratus in rain. I am a full time student with 2 job and I drive about 70 miles a day and I get about 30+ mpg on highway/suburban Roads....read morehide

- Pros
- Very Fun, Comfortable, Affordable
- Cons
- 2.4L Sluggish with A\C on
I am Stationed in England, and I bought this car. I love this car to death!! It handles like a higher priced sedan. For a US car being in Europe, I get a lot of Compliments on the Stratus from people who drive Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar. It turns Heads everywhere I go. This car is the best thing I have spent my money on!...read morehide
