What a beast

by Perry K from Kansas City, KS (5/23/08)
Pros:This is a beautiful car design. Lots of power. Ford Killer!!!
Cons:Impossible to find one at a reasonable price. Ready to give up my search. Might wait for the Camero

Finally theres something else to take over the road from all these UGLY mustangs!!!! If you cant tell I hate Ford so my opinions are swayed quite a bit. I wont work on, buy, or set in a Ford. I cant wait to see the Challengers and Cameros take back the highways

2009 Dodge Charger is a good buy

by Mark from Texas (5/22/08)
Pros:nice throwback muscle car and much cheaper than a GT500
Cons:less horsepower than a GT500, and worse fuel economy

Even though the engine is a 6.1 L Hemi, Dodge only put 2 valvles in each cylinder, if they would have put 3 in each cylinder, it would have a much better hosepower rating. But with price considered, I think the charger in a better buy over the GT500. I would have to give the car a K&N air intake and a better ignition to get the horsepower rating higher. For most people, 425 HP is plenty enough, I'm just throwing some opinions out there.

The coolest car I've never seen on the road!

by Al from Framingham, MA (5/16/08)
Pros:Sexy, classic muscle car design, gobs of HEMI power, plenty of gawkers
Cons:auto transmission only, expensive compared to the competition

I'd like to start out by saying that this is the coolest car that nobody has ever seen on the road or in their local Dodge store! I currently own a 2005 Mustang GT (whihc I love) and it's my 5th Ford overall. However, I have been dreaming about this all-new Challenger ever since its triumphant debut at the Detroit Auto Show back in January 2006. The difference between the production model and the concept appear to be slightly different. Having never actually seen the final production model in the flesh and/or driven one yet, it's difficult to tell what all the subtle differences are. I love the exterior looks, the loud HEMI Orange exterior color, and of course the big ole 6.1 liter HEMI V8 under the hood. But I was disappointed to see the production model's interior design and the lack of overall color choices. What happened to Sublime Green or Plum Crazty Purple? I thought you guys wanted to really go "retro" Chrysler, like Ford did some 4 years before you. The interior on the concept was awesome and they could have / should have doine a better job re-creating it. I just can't wait to (FINALLY) see one and perhaps be the porud new owner of a 2009 Challenger R/T.

Looks like a villians car! I love it!

by Eric Z from SE Michigan (5/13/08)
Pros:Just look at her. If you don't like the new Challenger you ain't a Mopar fan!
Cons:Initial run is too few and costing too much (dealer mark-ups)

I own a cherry 1972 'Cuda 340 4spd. I LOVE my 'Cuda but I recently had the opportunity to drive an SRT8 Challenger. Gotta say, I am SERIOUSLY considering selling my 'Cuda and buying the Challenger as my third/play car.

Looks fantastic. Sounds even better. Gobs of power and did I mention the body style?!?! It looks great. It felt like it was very very solid = milled from a solid chunk of steel. Very very stable on the road. I fell in instant love.

For those saying it ain't a Shelby or a Corvette, or a this or that...well that

THE new Musclecar!!

by Dodgeman66 from Corpus Christi, TX (5/12/08)
Pros:It's not a Ford
Cons:No Manual Transmission

Head snapping power. Smokes Mustangs and Corvettes with the same ease as it's older 70's Hemi brothers. Lack of manual trans is only let down, but it still has the ratchet shifting auto which is okay. Cheaper than a Mousestang and only 1 mpg less, but what are you worrying about mpg in a muscle car for anyway? Lack of color options is kinda disappointing. Super nice ride!!

VERY NICE - BUT

by wlkngtall69 from Tucson, Az (5/06/08)
Pros:Terrible! Come on guys, you know better than this.

I currently own a '67 fastback Mustang. For 2 yrs I have planned to buy a new Challenger when they came out (but now I will not). I owned a '70 Hemi Challenger that got better gas milage than the new Challenger. Maybe the suspension and ride were not as good as the 08, but I would rather upgrade a '70 Challenger for the same amount of $ (well, maybe a little more $). LETS FACE IT...... the 08 looks fantastic and the preformance has to be as good as it looks. The handling SHOULD be better. But the car just is not a '70 Challenger (just like the new mustang is not a '65-'68 fastback Mustang).

Pros:looks great
Cons:interior design

steering wheel looks ridiculous, dash board is more appropriate for a pick up truck, seats are from my grandma's car.what is DODGE thinking?this car needs more high performance looks.they need to steal some ideas from Honda, Toyota, VW of even GM

buy a Shelby GT500 instead

by Mr. Jim (4/05/08)
Pros:Can't think of any...Oh wait, something else a Shelby GT500 can beat on the streets.
Cons:HEAVY!!! Less horsepower than Shelby, Gas Mileage! Automatic transmission

This car is heavier than a shelby GT500, has less horsepower, comes with an automatic (hey its a lot of fun to row through the gears in a sports car!) and well, looks ugly.

The GT500 has the Shelby name where as this has the Dodge name on it.....enough said!

The Shelby even gets better fuel mileage which isn't a huge reason why you buy a sports car but the Challenger doesn't even get into the 20 MPG range!

not radical enough

by neffy elegon from poontown, NY (3/31/08)
Pros:excellent fuel economy, great room, great cargo space
Cons:only 4 tires to ride on, why not 6? attracts 'mullet chicks'

If you're looking for a car that can do 0 to 85 in under 3.5 seconds, this is it. I took this thing off-roading in WV and it went through 4 foot deep ruts without a problem. We were able to mount to large buck on the top and pull are 39 foot camper trailer.
