This is my umpteenth truck, ranging from two toyotas, a ford, a chevy, and two Rams. I traded my 2002 (new body style) for the 2008. Though the 02 was an SLT it had the 4.7 and 17's on the pavement. It ran strong and ran strong up to the day I parted with it. I got this 08 with the HEMI and 20's wrapped around. You must absolutely get the HEMI, no if ands or but's. Go for the HEMI. You will not be disappointed. Now I can tow my 71 HEMI Challenger around and maybe somebody will ask me if "dat thing got a HEMI"? Remember if you cant afford the gas you cant afford to own and drive it.

If you are going to let the horses run expect them to eat. Fuel consumption can be improved by not doing jack rabbit starts from the stop lights unless you just can't help yourself. The other thing to improve fuel consumption is getting into over drive so you are running on 4 cylinders instead of 8 with the 5.7 Hemi. I have been averaging 17-18 mpg going back and forth to work when I control the horses (myself). Over all I really like this truck (Quad Cab) and I have had a lot of trucks.

I run a lawn buisness and have used dodge for 10 years. This new 2008 Lonestar has everything I have ever wanted in a truck, Style, Power, and Dependability. All the extras make it awsome.

This is my second dodge truck the first is a 2001 dakota, best truck I have driven, I am hoping my ram is as good. Love the side step rails make enter/exit easier, the 20's stock look nice and the extra power from the Hemi helps when towing. Dodge really put together a well designed vehicle, everything is easy to get and reach even for my wife at 5'3", she loves the truck.

I just bought my Ram 1500 quad SLT with the 4.7 and I love this truck. I had a suburban before this and dropped two transmissions. I'll never go back to Chevy again. The Dodge 4.7 in my opinion is a better choice than the hemi. Its a magnum engine with 310 horses. Unless your towing heavy duty, go with the 4.7, you won't be disappointed, and won't cry too bad at the pump. This is my first pick-up truck, and I love the High ride height. My old suburban was long and low. I plan to do some up grades, maybe some 305/50R20 tires, and definitely some flowmasters. Its the Bighorn edition, and is the perfect truck for a big guy. Dodge makes nice trucks!

I bought this truck in November. I absolutely love it. Except for the gas mileage but I knew it would be pretty bad.

Mine is a 4x2 SLT short bed Quad Cab with the hemi. The 20" wheels are great in the snow.

Price compared, this truck is a much better value than Ford or Chevy, and it's awesome!

I traded my 4.7 V6 195 hp 07 Chevy Silverado reg cab in on this 08 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab Lonestar Edition with 5.7 V8 310 hp engine on 2/11/08. I only got an avg of 11 mpg with the Chevy Silverado and the ride was horrible and now I avg 18 mpg with this larger truck. And even though the Chevy Silverado and the GMC Sierra were just recently redesigned, they now have a plain dated apperance compared the the Dodge Ram.

I gave up on Fords, and had too many bad experiences with Chevy. Bang for the buck, this is the truck. With the buyer incentives and lifetime warranty, I feel I made a great truck purchase. This is my 5th Ram and they all perform up to my expectations and last well if you maintain them. Resale is a little soft compared to other major brands, so plan to keep it for a while. Normally 6 years gets the most use for actual out of pocket dollar.
I love the height with the 20's and it rides great. I'll let you know in a year or so.

Easy and comfortable to drive, All the controls are right there, a very well thought out vehicle. Drove every truck out there, owed several over the years and this is the best in a long time. The AC & heater are a little weak if you have the Quad cab design and the extras should be more standard but overall a tough little truck that has taken everything I have thrown at it, including three kids being themselves in a truck. The extra head & leg room was extremely rare for my tall frame and the Big Horn package was worth every penny.

i bought a new 05 1500 quadcab w the hemi.traded it for a mazda3 hatch,sold the mazda,missed not having a pickup.shopped around all the makes before decideing on the dodge again.best for the money in comparison,but very unhappy with the dealer i bought the truck from,norman chrysler jeep dodge,norman,oklahoma.sales and finance staff rushed the deal,tried to sell alot of extras after deal was made.played the bait and switch game.bought the first truck from same dealer,treated much better the first time.after this deal i will say i wont do business with them ever again or refer anyone to them.
