- large family sedan with reliability
- CV is becoming obsolete
Owner of a 2003 with 78,000 miles. CV is an excellent family sedan if bland stying doesnt bother you. The LX is a bit bouncy but rides like a large sedan should. The base models are underpowered but the engine and transmission is very reliable.
Gas mileage has remained steady at 20 city/26 highway but when gas prices were at there peak it was painfull at the pump.
As far as service and repairs go, the two problems are brake rotors and front sturts. Factory rotors on my CV warpped under normal usage and all 4 had to be replaced at 25,000 because they would not machine out. However, the replacement rotors were able to be machined during the 75,000 mile brake pad replacement service but I expect the rotors to warp within 15,000 miles and require replacement.
One front strut failed at at 50,000 miles and the other one is starting to leak and will be replaced soon. These are not covered under the basic or extended warranty and are costly repairs.
One perplexing thing about the corwn vic is why does it smell inside like coffee and donuts and why does traffic move out of the way if not come to a crawl?
