- Comfortable ride, good deal of features (sunroof, 6 disc CD Player, leather, heated front seats)
- Fuel economy not as good as expected, couple of problems here and there
Purchased As New
My wife bought this car towards the end of August. It's been great so far - but there are a few things that could be improved, or maybe it's just ours, or something that we're doing wrong....
Appearance - This crossover looks fantastic from the outside. The 3-bar chrome grille, large wheels, and muscular stance makes this car stand out from the rest of the cars in the parking lot. We got ours in the Cinnamon Metallic colour, and it looks great. Light brown with a dash of red.
Comfort - This CUV handles well, and is comfortable in the leather package we got. The ride is smooth, and steering is great going around the many roundabouts in our city. There is quite a bit of plastics, yet the interior is very comfortable and quiet. However, the SYNC feature worked for a few weeks and then just quit working. Somehow it un-synced. Also, the back armrest tends to rattle at times, but it's not really anything to worry about for us.
Performance - Our Edge is pretty powerful in comparison to the Kia Rondo my wife had before we got this. It's not too powerful, and not gutless. I think it is 265HP, but it doesn't really feel like that much power to me - probably because of its weight. Because of the large 3.5L V6 engine, fuel economy is not ideal. We're averaging about 18MPG. I'm not sure why, because several reviews on this page say much better about it, so I think we'll have to ask our dealer about this issue at some point.
Value - This car is costing us 38K after taxes and whatnot. We live in Canada, so it would be about 4K less in the US. I feel like this car is welcoming us to the family of great resale value. I've done some research and am quite satisfied with what the car will be worth in future years.
Reliability - Other than the few problems I've mentioned earlier, this car has been working great. In comparison to some other vehicles in this class, you can tell this one was made with quality as one of Ford's first priorities.
All in all, it's been great so far. We're going to be driving this for awhile.
