- Cons
- Could be jazzier

We purchased ours with 24k mles on it. So far, we have not had any issues and it drives very well for an SUV. The road noise that I read about, is really not that bad and we expected it to be far worse because so many reviews mentioned it. The Limited handles the road very well and is smooth, even going over roads that are filled with potholes. The car feels solid and is not at all tinny, but drives like a sedan. The downside is that the exterior is just ho-hum and the interior is very lackluster. We have owned other Ford Limited products and this one just does not compare. If you have a dog, it can scratch the black gloss console very easily, and the leather is not as durable as previous Ford seating. On the plus side, it handles really well in the snow and gets very good gas mileage....read morehide

- Pros
- Looks decent

- Too many parts that should be recalled at FMC expense

The following part has a TSB on it and will most likely fail on your vehicle. If you have service lights come up on your dashboard, be sure to have your vehicle checked out before the 3yr/36,000 warranty ends. Also, don't go to the Airport Marina Ford dealership in LA, they will charge you up to $1000 labor costs (not including the cost of parts). FORD nor your dealership will inform you of this potential problem.

- Pros

- break in floor where batteries are, when seats are folded down, things get stuck,

I traded in my Honda Civic Hybrid to buy my Escape Hybrid! I love everything about it. More room, great gas mileage. I was getting about 7-10 mpg greater in the Civic, but I had no room for my dogs, or my kids, or my suitcases when I traveled! I love the leather heated seats, the sunroof, the pop up back window. I don't like that the back window/hatch cannot be popped open with the key fob, but minor complaint. I'm not a fan of the on-board "SYNC" program. But I am a bit phobic of technology anyway! MUCH more comfortable than the Civic too, more leg room, more head room! Just all around better!...read morehide

- Pros
- Love everything about it especially mileage
- Cons
- Synch can be a little hard to figure out

Got it used with 1,600 miles on it so we got a real good price. Took a little while to figure out how to milk the mileage and are now averaging 35mpg city/highway. Love it!

- Cons

This is one of the best, and most reliable cars I've ever owned. I've got 70,000 miles and it's never even needed a tune up. Just regular oil changes. I have replaced only the rear brakes (fronts are original) and a few tires. The shocks were replaced which would have been expensive but amazingly it was paid for by the extended warranty I purchased. I would highly recommend the Ford Escape, especially to reward Ford for having the foresight to make the first SUV Hybrid, way back in 04....read morehide

I purchased my Escape in April of 2005. It was the first Hybrid that the dealer had sold. I just broke 150,000 miles. I average between 31 & 34 MPG. I am a salesman so my mileage is a mix of city & hwy. The original brakes lasted me over 100,000 miles. I just replaced the battery. The only problem I have ever had was a wheel bearing that was replaced under warranty.
The only thing that I don't like is that I can't recirculate the heated air in Winter. It sucks in everyones exhaust. This is the first Ford I have ever owned (Former Chrysler Loyalist). I am sold on their quality and would not hesitate to buy another one. Especially since they didn't take any Govt. bailout money!...read morehide7 out of 7 people found this review helpful.

I have owned my Ford Escape Hybrid since May 2005 (its a 2006), fully loaded (at that time). I have not been the least disappointed: original brakes with 85,000+ miles; on 2nd set of tires (get the originals since the 1st set lated 60,000+); NO paint fade or dulling. Only real complaints: (1) Priced $7,000 higher than non-hybrid Escape, & (2) Ford's refusal to offer goodwill on a washer bottle that cracked (no off-roading and its covered with a shield underneath), even though I service my vehicle with Ford dealer's......learned my lesson.
I have driven this vehicle back & forth between northern & southern CA since I bought it, covering an average of 800 miles per trip. I make about 8-10 trips annually. This doesn't count the drive to work (54 miles 1-way) 5-6 days a week. I just put REGULAR gas in it (avg 12 GALLONS a fill-up) and get about 360 miles to a tank full.
Overall, I would still buy another Ford Escape Hybrid. But I will have a hard time when it comes time to trade in or sell the present Hybrid.
By the way, don't listen to the nay sayers who say the overall cost of this Hybrid is too high to make up over the life of the vehicle, they have no idea what they are talking about ....... you need to own one to know what its about ....... and its worth it :)...read morehide6 out of 7 people found this review helpful.

Mine is a 2009 - bought new as a SAFE vehicle for my wife - I get to drive it on the weekends though! Mileage rated at 34/31 - so far driven 4K miles and NEVER been below 35.4 MPG. Manual says 10% ethanol will lower your MPG - I only use the 10% ethanol and have had MPG as high as 38.7 !!!!!!!!!
