- Looks and feels durable, strong engine, smooth ride, excellent power steering
- annoying vibrations on doors when music bass is loud, not enough driver's leg room.
I just bought my Escape 2.3L 4x2 XLS a week ago and i bought it because i love its stance, and looks great. The ride is good and shocks responds well on pot holes. Steering is easy and generally fun to drive. I'm just annoyed by the vibrations on 3 of my doors when my audio music bass is high. I think the plastic made covering on doors has a lot to do with it. Not enough leg room on drivers seat that my leg sometimes hit the dash board underneath. Limited adjustments when lowering driver seats. Lastly, the manual climate control sucks. How can Ford combine the air intake vent and fan control into a single knob? You will only have an enclosed airconditioned cabin when setting the fan at speed 2 in which fan is noisy and gets too cold. Lowering it to speed 1 the vent will open and polluion from outside comes in, and is no way you cold close the vent from console. Its bad when smoke form other cars comes inside the cabin. I would appreciate if i can set the fan speed at 1, but sill has an enclosed airconditioned cabin. I wish I had thoroughly scrutinized it before I buy. The cons only shows when you get to drive one....read morehide

- Good value with rebates
- Wheels slip in rain and dash board rattles
I test drove the Escape, Honda CRV, and Toyota Highlander and folks...FORD is still asleep. I was disappointed to find the brake release on the console taking up seating space, the front wheels slipped in the rain when accelerating from a stop, no passing acceleration when going from 50 to 60, and there were rattle noises in the dash board when stopped at a light. Sorry FORD, neither the honda or toyota had these issues. I'll pay a lil more for performance and day....read morehide

- Cute design, Moonroof, MACH audio, leather seating, compact feeling and good handle
- A little bit noisy at high speed ( 60mph), Milage is around 18 which is blow EPA rating of 20/25.
I bought one at the end of 2004 and have driven it for 4 months. I would say the overall impression is it's a great small SUV for a small/young family. The vehicle drives like a car except the seating is high and you get good overall view of the traffic. Not big at all so its easy to park. WIth enough space back and inside, you can put 5 people in and still feel comfortable. Only 2 complains: wind noise and gas milage is fair. The reliable is to be seen....read morehide

- Pick up feels like an Explorer V8. Looks nice. Heated butt warmers.
- Ford needed to add mud guards on the all 4 wheels. It says 20-25 mpg. I'm at 19.5.
We broke it in by driving to Utah from L.A. then back to L.A., then to Monterey, in one weekend. That was a Marathon test!! No issues, just tired!! Overall, my wife & I are happy with it. Priced right. We like the fact that it is narrow (compared to Explorer & Expedition), so in the grocery store & Walmart parking lots (zoos), the non-respecting guy with an '84 beater doesn't slam your new paint (just after you washed it). Plus, the back up sensors help a lot with parallel parking in downtown areas. I say it is the best bang for the buck out there!! Just test drive one & I will stop blabbing!! Note: While test driving, take a turn fast. 4 wheel independent suspension will not let you flip....read morehide

- handling and performance
- road grime on lower doors, poor mileage not anticipated
i got my 05 in august. i had rented one, and i liked the car so much, i ended up getting a limited. the extra 'goodies' make it an easier pill to swallow.
i was disappointed when i checked the mileage. i came close to 21 mpg, and i drive very conservatively. when i tried zippier driving, it fell to 18.5. my '67 vw gets about the same(21 mpg), so it wasn't a shock. the fuel tank is too small. i still don't feel as though the fuel gauge and the tank capacity are of the same ilk.
i do enjoy driving it very much. 80 mph has been my max., and that was too fast for me. it handled remarkably well for a small suv. great pick-up when entering freeways and good visibility. no noise problems. i'm satisfied with the car thus far. (5500 mi.) poor design causing road grime to collect on body....read morehide
