I have a 2009 Escape and I love it. We put 7,000 miles on it last year on a trip and I was vey impressed.

Fun little SUV to drive, great on gas.This is my second escape. The transmission is not very reliable, on my 2010 ecape the trans needed a rebuild after 12K miles. So, far over 13K on my
2012 and it's running great.

The Ford Hybrid is a poor design. Instead, a small 11 horsepower gasoline motor can power an electric generator which in turn powers an electric motor which turns a front wheel drive axle with a chain belt drive. Then, in the rear, a roller wheel under the car turns two more electric generators when the car moves by reason of the front electric motor, and the two rear electric generators then power two more electric motors in the rear which power the rear wheel drive. Once you are on the Interstate Highway, the roller generators pretty much power the car without an outside power source. You should get a 1,000 miles per gallon or more on the Interstate Highway with this design. ajf

Bought the 2012 Ford Escape Limited V6 4wd. So far the Escape has been a great vehicle with a lot of features. Have the limited luxury package. Backup camera is a nice feature along with the park assist. Gives a smooth ride and relatively quiet. Very impressed with the Escape so far. Traded a Honda in for the Escape. Plenty of room for my dog as well.
My only grip is the in order to fold the rear seats, you have to take the headrest off, not a big deal but different...read morehide

The bluetooth would only work wirelessly with Internet radio. I have an iphone 4 and a 3g and none of them work when I plug them on USB. USB worked the first two weeks , but stopped. Ford said they are waiting for updates. Duh... Then, three weeks later, transmission started slipping from 2 to 3rd gear. Ford's solution? None. They said " the hesitation/pause that may be felt on the first few 2-3 shifts after a cold soak is deemed NORMAL and it MEETS design. I have driven different cars from Subaru to Mercedes and nothing like this....read morehide

I have a 2005 Escape, and will definitely replace it with this model once I have driven it into the ground. I put quite a few miles on mine driving some difficult roads to work (narrow 2 lane winding around a Tennessee mountain). Has great handling and required minimal upkeep.
