Overall I have been happy with my 07 Expedition EL. However in March of 2009 with less than 41,000 miles my front right brake caliper failed. This caused me to temporarily lose my brakes, but luckily nothing bad happened. The repairs cost in excess of $700.00. I contacted Ford regarding this issue and they brushed me off as an inconvenience.I understand that I was four thousand miles out of warranty, but I have been a loyal Ford customer for many years and I also currently own a 05 F150 and an 08 Escape. This has caused me to take a look at my brand loyalty.
I am very curious to see if any other owners have had a similiar problem with their Expeditions.I am also extremely upset with Ford's handling of my situation on a vehicle that is only TWO YEARS OLD (I took delivery in March of 2007) After a phone conversation with Ford Motor Company today I advised them of my intention to let my feelings be heard....read morehide

- Brawny looks, swanky interior, power liftgate, heated/cooled seats, nav, power folding 3rd row
- Seats a bit firm. 2nd row seat belt buckles stick you in the rear when they're folded down!
I test drove many other vehicles including Armada, Sequoia, Denali. Even test drove a Honda Odyssey to compare for smoothness. The Expedition blew them all away. Even with the upgraded 20" wheels, the ride is much better that all of the above mentioned vehicles. Better yet, with the Pirelli tires on it, I drove it through the twisty hills where I live, trying to get the stability control to kick in (I couldn't do it) and the vehicle was amazingly stable, with not one peep out of those tires. At least test drive this vehicle, you won't be disappointed!
There's tons of space inside, even in the 3rd row, where 2 full sized adults can sit comfortably for extended trips. The luxury features are great, including leather seating, power windows/locks/rear quarter windows/rear liftgate. Also adjustable pedals, heated and cooled front seats, Sirius satellite radio, auxillary input for my Ipod, DVD player, dual zone climate control, reclining rear seats, puddle lights. My old 420SEL didn't have this much stuff, and it all works flawlessly!
In mixed driving I'm getting about 16.45 miles per gallon, but on the highway I've been getting 19.5 mpg. On the highway, I set the cruise control on 70 and rarely deviate unless necessary.
This truck rides like a dream, not like a truck at all. The engine is quiet at cruise, yet when you dig into the gas pedal, it has a satisfying growl that will become addicting. I am amazed at the effort Ford has put into this vehicle. I also own an '03 T-bird, and I am amazed at how well that is built as well. I think these 2 vehicles (the only new Fords I've owned in a while) show the good direction that Ford is heading. Keep it up!
The only other minor complaint I have (other that the seat belt issue mentioned above) is that the "low fuel" warning is too conservative. If I stop and fill up when the message reads "LOW FUEL: 50 miles to empty", I can still put 8 gallons of gas in it. At my mixed driving average, that's another 131 miles I could drive before filling up....read morehide
