Traded my Acura MDX on a brand new 2013 XLT. The styling, gas mileage, comfort, room, sound system, navigation, and especially the price are all superior to the MDX. Have almost 20000 miles on it now and have yet to have a problem. I love filling it up with regular gas (MDX requres premium) and am averaging 23 MPG (MDX averaged 18). The Sync system takes a week or so to master, but then is very easy and intuitive (my wife's '10 Mercedes on the other hand... yikes!). Everything you touch in the car "feels good". The old Explorers were nothing like this....read morehide

I bought a brand new Ford Explorer last November. This is actually my first car. No issues so far. My family loves it!

So far this car is flat awesome. Purchased Dec 2012, new. Great performance, great looks, this car turns heads. Purchased the black with black interior. Flat out, the wheels look cool. If you are a soccer mom and pull up next to me and are in a hurry....Sorry you will not beat me off the line. This is a sweet vehicle. Don't buy one, because I want people to keep asking me about this....read morehide

Just purchased a 2013 charcoal gray Ford Explorer XLT 2 weekends ago from Frontier Ford (Santa Clara, CA) and I'm completely in love. Got a great deal from Frontier ($7,000 off MSRP) plus I had a trade-in. It couldn't have been a better purchase, and the car is unreal. First off, the driver/passenger seats are very comfortable, and the light tan leather is soft to the touch. The 2nd row has plenty of leg room and seats are very comfortable. My father (who's 6'1") reported plenty of room and comfort during a ride from the 2nd row. Although the 3rd row is a bit tight (and realistically is only set-up for kids) works great for our 2 and 4 year old boys complete with car/booster seats. The 3rd row headrests are a bit large however, and present a bit of a challenge by reducing rear view mirror vision. The SUV rides smooth on city streets and on the freeway, and seems to handle incredibly well when cornering considering its larger size. The MyFord Touch and SYNC features are absolutely awesome, although if you're not tech-savvy you'll need some assistance with a few useful things (ie: voice commands, using the USB thumb drive/SD card reader, etc...). Steering wheel controls are great, and cup-holder/storage is convenient. Only con from me would be the gas mileage, but if you're able to afford a $30,000 car in the first place, the cost of gasoline is most likely not of great concern especially since its not much worse than other vehicles in its class....read morehide

- Cons
- Gas mileage isn't quite what I expected but not too far off.

I had driven every other mid-size SUV on the market, and the Explorer blew them all out of the water, in fact, a Ford wasn't even one I intended to drive, once I did, I was hooked. The options coupled with the over all look and drive of the vehicle, made it impossible for me to pass it up. It was a bit pricier than a few others and will, over time, cost more in gas, however, it's worth it-I spend a lot of time on the roads and am happy to be doing it in the Ford Explorer!...read morehide

- Pros

- Cons
- A bit thirsty, and difficult blind spot without BLIS, cramped back seat.

First time I rode in one of these I asked 'This is a Ford?'. What happened to the bland interior and uninspiring exterior we've come to expect of Ford in the past? Well, it's definitely not your father's Ford. We purchased a fully loaded 2013 Explorer Sport and couldn't be more happy. Having test driven the Limited and it's capable 290hp V6, the step up to the twin turbo 365hp sport is more of a quantum leap! No worries merging with freeway traffic in this beast! With that in mind, be prepared to head more often to the pump with the additional lead in your foot. Steering was responsive and the stiffer suspension on the Sport seems to handle our pot-hole riddled roads in Colorado very well. We purchased the 402A equipment package which includes a blind spot indicator system, and I must say that it, along with the backup camera is a must if you want to try and maneuver around the city and park in crowded lots with confidence. Having had the vehicle for only a couple weeks so far, I can't speak to the overall reliability as of yet, but I can say the black on black exterior with black rims and blacked out grill and headlamps/tail lamps certainly gets a few looks and several compliments already. The new Explorer has very clean lines and is visually appealing from most every angle. Not your average mid-sized family SUV for sure! Just plain fun to drive. Loving it!...read morehide

- Pros
- Extra power, best looking trim, lots of room inside
- Cons
- Poor milage, can be pricy

I purchased a Sport with tow package. This is by far the best looking trip (I got the red on black), and I've already had people stop to ask what I was driving. The power seems adequate, especially since it weights 5000lbs. Fuel economy is about 20mpg on the highway, but it only has 100 miles on it, so I expect it to go up. Without many options, my Sport was cheaper than many of the Limiteds on the lots, but price can rocket past $50K if you want all the bells and whistles....read morehide

- Cons
- The voice commands are a bit difficult to master

I have the limited trim model which has a high equipment level. Fit and finish very good. No squeaks or knocks. I paid MSRP less 5,000.
Ford SYNC works very well, I have no problems with the system others with older models have reported. Averaging 17 mpg mostly short in town rides so far.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Brought my 2013 Explorer in after transmission fluid leaked all over garage. They charged me $1000 to fix it. Said it was hit. If I was hit, the front end would have been damaged. Do not buy from Pines Ford.

why would you want to buy this gas guzzler? I considered it because of employer discounts but no, thanks. They're not worth it for the price. I'll stick with GM
