Purchased As New
First time I rode in one of these I asked 'This is a Ford?'. What happened to the bland interior and uninspiring exterior we've come to expect of Ford in the past? Well, it's definitely not your father's Ford. We purchased a fully loaded 2013 Explorer Sport and couldn't be more happy. Having test driven the Limited and it's capable 290hp V6, the step up to the twin turbo 365hp sport is more of a quantum leap! No worries merging with freeway traffic in this beast! With that in mind, be prepared to head more often to the pump with the additional lead in your foot. Steering was responsive and the stiffer suspension on the Sport seems to handle our pot-hole riddled roads in Colorado very well. We purchased the 402A equipment package which includes a blind spot indicator system, and I must say that it, along with the backup camera is a must if you want to try and maneuver around the city and park in crowded lots with confidence. Having had the vehicle for only a couple weeks so far, I can't speak to the overall reliability as of yet, but I can say the black on black exterior with black rims and blacked out grill and headlamps/tail lamps certainly gets a few looks and several compliments already. The new Explorer has very clean lines and is visually appealing from most every angle. Not your average mid-sized family SUV for sure! Just plain fun to drive. Loving it!
