Purchased As New
My wife got jealous as I got a new truck, she thought her 2009 Suburban LTZ was too old and wanted something new. We had 3 children 8 or under, and had another since we bought the ford. We were hoping with 3 rows it would work, as she loved all the gadgets in the loaded sport and I liked the performance.
We brought the vehicle home before buying, put all carseats in, etc....The room behind the 3rd row is very limited, and I let her know this was a big concern...hard to fit even a stroller back there without standing it up. She loved it though and the older childrens boosters and seats fit ok, and wanted it because it looked like a range rover and the interior ambient lighting. I went along with it because it was fun to drive, very snappy. We got the 402A package and most everything else.
Well, 800 miles into it, we no longer have it. The lack of room with a baby seat in the middle (we got buckets in the middle) was tough, and with no room behind the seats as well. I found myself stuffed into the steering wheel, and im only 5' 8" and about 175, felt like I couldnt move with the baby seat behind me. I personally also hated the controls with SYNC and such. We didnt have it that long to get used to it, but controlling everything through touch screen was kind of a pain, its nice at times to have simple dials and easy to use buttons that dont require splitting menus into 4 quadrants. Perhaps more time I would have got used to it, but just not intuitive.
Traded it off for a Yukon XL Denali already. As much as we dont like the huge outside size of the Yukon and Suburban line, we have become used to the interior space they provide, and it is so much larger and roomier.
Overall, if you have more than 2 kids, I would avoid. MPG in town was also terrible at around 12 or 13, and that is without getting on the gas. Highway was respectable around 21, vehcile drove and handled very well, very smooth. For a family with 2 kids and the occasional need for a third row, this would be a very fun vehicle if you can get by the Sync system.
