2006 Ford Five Hundred

- Smooth trans; Great ride; Great f/r leg room; Great access to child seat
- None so far.
With 14K miles and at 1 year old, our '06 Five Hundred Limited FWD is outstanding. The leather interior is quite comfortable, and the higher seating position is nice for our tall family and easy on entry/exit. The rear seat has ample leg room for 6' adults with the front seats set back. The 18" wheels provide a great ride and so far we haven't had any issues with the Pirelli tires. The 6-disc in dash CD-changer sounds great and there is minimal wind noise with the sunroof open. Our FWD model has the 6-speed transmission and is smooth when shifting from park-reverse-drive and during acceleration. We traded in our '00 Cadillac for this and it has all the same amenities for a much lower price. Its also much easier getting our child in and out of the child seat due to the higher seating position and wider door opening. The spacious cabin also prevents me from hitting my head on the roof and sun visors....read morehide

- Nice Ride, comfort, looks
- Pirelli P6 tires
Great car, very satisfied except for tire performance. Pirelli P6 tires making noise @ 30,000 miles. I'm now trying to ruin the tires so I have a reason to get a better tire.

- Highway fuel economy is excellent ! Rear leg room compare to front leg room. Outstanding car all ar
- None as of 19199 miles as of today.
This is by far one of the very best cars that I've owed. Handling is fantastic. I received it as a Christmas present in December 2005 from my son. I have driven it just over 19,000 miles to date (9/26/06) and I am still completely in love with this automobile. Gasoline mileage is outstanding at highway 29 miles per gallon especially if you consider how comfortable this car is and how much room you have. I am amazed that I don't see more of them on the road. I have the 2006 Ford Five Hundred Ltd. The only option he didn't add was the navigation system. So nice to drive I don't mind getting "there" via the long road !...read morehide

- Roomy, comfortable, command seating and good looking
- It's a Ford! Problems with the power steering.
I bought my 500 used with about 8500 miles on it for almost $10k off a new MSRP. I have had it for one month and so far the only problem has been with its power steering. It made noise during every turn. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the power steering pump and rack and pinion. Got it back and the noise is still there along with a new clicking noise. Great! Back to the dealer again. Every time I tak my car there, it's an all day wait to get it back. Had two other imports prior and no problems or long waits like this! Other than that the vehicle has been fine. I get 30 MPG at 65MPH on the freeway and low 20's in town. The vehicle is very roomy and smooth. The V-6 is adequate but then this wasn't meant to be a sports car either. This 500 has all the features of most high priced luxury cars including the heated front seats, 6 disc cd changer, dual auto climate control, memory seating and mirrors, power seats, etc. Unfortunately its a Ford and the long term reliability and residual value is up in the air....read morehide

The is an excellent car and is a definite step up from the taurus of which i have own 3, wouldn't trade the 500 for all taurus's in the world.

- Very comfortable car to sit/ride in! Plenty of leg room. Huge trunk space.
This is a GREAT car for the price. I love it. It is like driving a luxury car, but not the price. It has a very smooth ride and the seats are great to sit in! I was worried about buying a car with 3 kids, but they all fit just fine. The trunk space is unbelievable, and the back seats both fold down for extra cargo space. The model we bought has the dual climate control, loving that. For all of us who are never at the same temperature as the person sitting next to you this is great. The 6 CD changer is awesome. Over all this is a great value for the money, and a great car....read morehide

- Awesome Trunk & Backseat. Loads of room with many options
- Major problems at 53,000 miles, no help form Ford or 3 Dealers so far
Purchased for small limo biz in Feb 2005. Clients loved car since back seat is awesome. Many many people commented what a nice looking car and a good move for us moving from Towncars that were way more money with less room. Unfortunately at 53,000 miles the car started running ruugh. Went to Ford and did service and fuel filter, total about $300. Drove home fine. Next day after dropping clients at JFK airport I broke down on beltway. Car in shop for over 3 weeks with tech support guessing on what to do next. Ford replaced all cat converts and computer, I paid for new intake (hole melted through) and TPI, $1100 + towing $100 + rental car for a week $300. Got car back and it blew a spark plug 2 days later in driveway. Fixed for $200. Started running bad again (same thing as before) and local Ford replced cpu (again). Car ran good for 2 weeks then started agian. Replaced cpu 2 more times under warranty. Car STILLS runs rough and stalls after 1-2hrs on road. Car at 4th dealership. Can't find problem. Car out of fleet now for almost 5 mos. 4 dealers, no one can fix. Kicked out of lacal Ford service after me saying I was not going to pay for them to guess whats wrong anymore and not fix car. No lemon law after warranty ends.I am screwed!...read morehide

- Roomy, comfortable, smooth ride. Much better then expected gas milage
- Slightly under powered - could use a bit more Horsepower
No doubt the best value for the money. With 25 more horse power the car would be perfect.

- Appearance, visibility, gas mileage, roominess, TRUNK SPACE!, features
- Harsh ride (with 18's), noisy, slightly underpowered, steering wheel controls
I rented this car for a day as an extended test drive and logged 260 miles. The ride is a little rough and the road noise should be reduced. The 18" wheels may partly be the culprit. On a round trip from the Bay Area to Sacramento, with mixed 80/65 mph truck dodging, the car managed about 25 mpg - with about 20 miles of city driving thrown in. The stereo is adequate. The 6-speed auto does a pretty good job of compensating for the undersized engine. The steering is overly sensitive at freeway speeds. Working the steering wheel radio controls requires taking one hand partially off the wheel. It would be better to have fewer buttons and have them arranged so they are closer to the edge. The seats are reasonably comfortable, and I just love the 360 degree visibility. One couldn't ask for a bigger trunk, although a larger opening would be nice. This is one of the nicest-looking cars I've seen for under $40K, and the colorful, well-lit interior is especially impressive at night. For overall comfort and stress-reduction in a cheap car, I'd have to go with a Crown Victoria LX. Although the CV has an 80's-vintage interior, it is quieter, smoother, has much better power, and only gets about 2 mpg less for the same trip profile. The CV stereo sound is the best I've found (haven't tried a Cadillac/Buick with Bose yet)....read morehide
