What can I say, I absolutely love this vehicle. After eyeballing them since last Summer when they first came out, rebates have brought them into my price range and I was able to pick up a FWD SE with Synch and Sirius for $23,900! I was originally shopping an 07 Cadillac SRX but decided to give the Flex a try. I had previously tried the 08 Saturn Outlook and was unimpressed.
A test drive is all it took for me to know the Flex was my vehicle. It rode so quietly and smoothly yet had the versatility to fit my family and the in-laws.
After owning it for two weeks, I can say that it is so absolutely well built without even a hint of a rattle. A long-term test in a magazine of a Flex stated theirs was as quiet as day one at 17,000 miles and I believe them.
Then there's the gas mileage. It's EPA rated at 18/24 and the majority of automobile testers I've seen have not yet met these figures. I, on the other hand, am averaging 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway! I'm not sure if it's because I chose a lighter (less optioned) FWD or if they had AWD or I'm just driving more 'delicately' but all I can say is that I'm not disappointed in the mileage.
Have I mentioned the ride? Pot-holed, bumpy roads? No problem! Concrete that causes "droan" in your other cars? Quiet as a library. At 70mph I can converse as easily with my son in the 3rd row as my Father in the second.
The one thing I'm amazed about is that there aren't more on the road. I live in the seventh largest city in the US and have only seen one other one on the road (but lots on dealer lots). I'm not sure if this is due to Ford's error of originally pricing a minivan competitor $4K higher than the base Odyssey or Sienna or just a sign of the economic times.
As a nitpicky point, the assist handles seem to be in the wrong place for easy entry/exit. Every passenger I have from my wife, to my parents, to my small children reach and hold on to the A or B pillar rather than utilize the handle on the ceiling above the door. I'm concerned that my children, who use the headrest for leverage pullling themselves in and out, may affect the durability of the front seats.

I have owed my Flex now for 6 months and still can't find anything that I don't like about it. The comfort is great, the ride is smooth and I still get looks when I drive by. I have only seen a total of 5 other Flexes on the rode so I thought I would write again to let you all know what a great car it is. I live in Sac/CA and when I was handed the keys they said I was the first in Sacamento to purchase one but I am still waiting to see more on the rode. Make sure you test drive this before you buy anything else you won't be sorry. My grandkids love it also they were the reason I bought such a big car and I didn't really want to drive a mini-van I did that when my kids were small....read morehide

- Lots of room, good features in basic model, solid feel
- not great city mpg, folding seats a bit sticky
Best use of space in a car-- lower and narrower than a minivan, but luxurious space in 2nd row, and actually decent for adults in 3rd row. My wife was scared away by the massive size of Acadia/Outlook.
Not great acceleration, but my priority is mpg rather than performance. In-city mpg tends to read 16 mpg on trip computer....read morehide

- good exterior and interior look, confortable, good accesories
- overpriced to be a FWD
for the large of the wagon it could be standard FR, poor performance on hill climbs fully loaded
here in puerto rico the car are more expensive than the states all the time, but this wagon has reach a price that dont worth it
im not gona drive it all the time fully loaded so thats not a major factor to get the wagon it is the price the factor
a regular suv with FR will be nore cost effective than the flex...read morehide

- roomy,quiet,good looking,better mpg than minivan,great standard features
- none so far
We bought this car at the end of June and immediately took it up to Montana. This car is QUIET! It has more room than our minivan did and the 3rd row seats can actually fit an adult, if the headrests are all the way up. We have the SE base model and optioned with the Sync system. It has everything most people want/need. Moving up to the SEL quickly jacks up the price. On that trip, we averaged 26.5 mpg on the highway---that's up and down mountains mixed with some flatter terrain. That's not bad for this big 7 passenger auto. We have yet to see anybody else on the road in one of these. We bought the first one in Southern Colorado. We constantly get asked about the car and lots of looks!!!!!WE LOVE IT!!! This is the best vehicle built by Ford yet!!!!...read morehide

- Love the ride it makes me feel like I am driving a Limo.
- None yet.
I love this car I want to drive it all the time even if I have nowhere to go. I kept my old car to drive to work but I don't know how long that will last as I love driving this car. I love the sync system for the phone and my Zune player. I got the lowest model and it is still a great car. The main reason to buy this car was I didn't want a mini-van. There is plenty of room for all my grandkids (4 + 1 on the way) they were the reason for me getting such a big car. I am a grandma and this is my car not my husbands. The air conditioner works great in mine to where the kids said they were cold. One other owner said his didn't work well not in my case. All in all I love my new car and love the way people look when I go by. I have only seen 1 other one on the road looking forward to seeing more....read morehide

- Interior space, quiet, fuel economy, style
I sell Ford. At first I was skeptical of the Flex. It seemed boxy and ugly in the pictures. When they first hit the lot I've been nothing but impressed. A lot of thought went into it. The SE entry level model has all the standard features you "need" while the next gen nav system is great! Sync of course is a class exclusive and having it on my Fusion I can really recommend it.
Some may squak at the gas mileage, but 24mpg highway in a 7 passenger vehicle... should it get 40? If you look at it for what it is, that's excellent; better than GMC Acadia, and leaps above a full size SUV.
If you need a family mover, this would be the best choice. It's roomy, plenty of power and options, and it is probably the quietest thing on the road so watch out for flashing lights because you can't hear them!...read morehide
