- Great pickup on highway in comparison to most other 4-cylinders
- Gas mileage is not what is advertised. I do 90% highway driving and I am averaging closer to 27mpg.
I have 10,000 miles on my Focus and it performs great. I have had no issues, not even minor ones and am very satisfied. The car gets up and goes like no other 4-cylinder I tested (Vibe, HHR, Sportage, Tuscon, Neon). I opted for heated seats and mirrors and am grateful I did in these brutal Michigan winters. I also got the safety-package (side air-bags and ABS) and convenience package (power everything with some nice rims) for a great price. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a vehicle with good gas mileage and quality craftsmenship. I have the ZX5, and could use more cargo space, but it serves its purpose, which is to save money on gas....read morehide

- Good fuel economy.
- Transmission is a piece of junk! Ford not responding to repair under warranty.
My 2005 Focus, SES ZX4 began having automatic transmission problems at 7200. I have taken it to two Ford dealerships. Both ps acknowledged the prolem and between them they have had the car for twelve (12) days. The transmission problem has not been repaired. The mileage is now just over 12000 and the problems are getting worse.
I cannot recommend the Focus with automatic transmission and would caution current owners and/or potential buyers to BEWARE!...read morehide

- Good fuel economy
- Not as much power on take off as other manual vehicles in 2007
I have the 2007 Ford Focus and for the most part, I think its a great little car. It's great on gas, it looks sporty with the sun roof, leather seats, and the spoiler. The fact that it comes in manual drive just adds to the feeling of a sports car without sports car prices. I would tell anyone who wants an enconomy vehicle with a sporty touch, to buy this vehicle....read morehide

- Comfortable seats, MP3/CD player standard, Great cargo space, Euro design
- Rough ride over mild terrain, Little leg room in back seats, Fair fuel economy
Having only owned the car for a week, I can so far report that I'm enjoying the ride. The look of the car is very sporty and it handles well in tight turns/corners, however on mildly bumpy roads in the city, it felt like I was on a dirt & stone road in the country. The only saving grace was the comfortable seats, which helped dampen the impact of a rough road and sub-par shocks. The controls, dials and other features on the dashboard are easy to read and use and nothing looks too busy, although the sound system controls on the steering wheel shaft are a little awkward and the angle of entry for the ignition key is awkward as well. The cargo space in the back is a huge benefit and I've already hauled around a number of items that make you think you're driving an SUV or wagon. The cover that adds security to items in the cargo space comes standard in the SE model and is beneficial to the vehicle and adds a finishing touch; it can also be easily removed for larger/taller items. The passenger space in the back forces the driver or person in the passenger front seat to move their seat into a semi-cramped position so if you routinely carry more than one passenger besides yourself, you may want to opt for the sedan version. As for fuel efficiency, I'm not sure yet. I have driven it on the highway for about an hour and then a few kilometres in the city and I'm almost down to half a tank so I'm not quite sure if that is good or bad so you be the judge. It is a smaller car so logic would dictate that it is better on fuel than a larger sedan or SUV. Overall, it is a very "fun" car but probably one that you wouldn't take on a road trip for a long period of time....read morehide

- Good fuel economy and all the items that are standard on the Focus that were extra in other cars.
- A bit under-powered.
The hatchback was no higher in price than the sedan. The Focus comes standard with tip-tronic, 16 inch mag wheels, large stereo, fog lamps, etc. I shopped the Honda Civic and the Mazda 3 before deciding on the Focus. Although there were some features I liked better on the other cars, overall I felt the Focus was the best value....read morehide

- Good value for your money, leather heated seats/mirrors, excellent premium stereo, traction control,
- No real cons that bug me too much
Lower retail price and 0% financing from Ford made the car a lot less expensive than rivals in it's class, , fuel economy is getting better(up to 14.5km/liter highway so far-8500km-5 speed manual), rear bench seat is easy to remove(2 bolts) for added room when seats are folded, excellent option choice including heated leather seats/mirrors, traction control, GFX package deals, premium stereo has excellent sound, telescoping steering wheel, fog lights. Very good driving characteristics. Relatively quiet at highway speeds. I did consider the wagon as it is even more practical than the hatchback but was disappointed that they are not producing it anymore. Seems roomier in cabin when compared with rival cars. So far no problems with vehicle. Looked at Honda Civic, Toyota Matrix, Nissan, Hyundai accent, etc. etc. and decided on Focus. Present Style of vehicle could be updated a bit....read morehide

- Great handling, extremely quiet, very peppy little engine with low vibration levels
- The estimated fuel rating are a bit on the optimistic side, the ride is a bit harsh over rough road
I guess I've owned my Focus for a couple months now and so far it's proven to be a good little car. I was a bit reluctant to buy one as a workmate of mine owned an earlier model and had nothing but problems with his, in fact a wheel actually fell off his car while going down the road. I'm guessing they've worked all the bugs out of their assembly operation now as it hasn't given us any trouble. There are several things I don't like about the car but I guess you'll eventually find a dislike with any car. The ride is very harsh over rough road and there is a fair amount of audible tire noise when on rough or uneven pavement. What I do like is the peppy little engine, she gets up and goes, not going to break any acceleration records but does well. The engine is quiet for a 4 banger and is nearly vibration free once it's warmed up. Now for my wish list ! I wish I had heated mirrors, I wish I had an electrically adjustable drivers seat, I wish my armrests were padded instead of hard molded plastic to rest my arthritic elbows on, I wish my seat , mirrors and steering wheel would have a memory option so I wouldn't have to continually adjust them individually after my lovely bride uses the family buggy. Over all the Focus is a good value with few flaws and as of now I'd recommend one to most anybody, I guess time will tell if I continue to feel this way....read morehide

- not bad handling lots of features compare to competition
- cheaply made infact cheaper than the older models 2001 whole car needs revamping
older model 2000-2004 looked better you would think that after 6-7 years there would much improvement ? aside from the bigger front discs the newer models feel much cheaper than old.. the car needs a new style and also needs more power their 2.3 should be base engine and offer more powerful engine and not on sedan but on hatchback and wagon istead ....read morehide
