- Excellent fuel economy, very nicely equipped, superb handling
- Almost too quiet inside...if that can really be a problem.
Purchased As New
This was my first new car purchase, and it was the best I could have hoped for, and then some! The fuel mileage I'm getting is well above EPA estimates; I'm getting a solid 34/40 with my driving, and have topped out as high as 43 mpg highway. Having this car with the manual transmission is great, though I do wish I had cruise control, but that's a little tricky with a manual. Acceleration is zippy, handling is sporty, and it's a blast to drive. It's also comfortable for long road trips...we've done trips of anywhere from 2-10 hours in the car, and it rides great...and the seats are plenty comfortable too.
It's incredibly well equipped at the base S model with A/C, AM/FM CD with auxiliary input, power front windows, rear defrost, power mirrors and locks, etc. It's also got a nice bit of cargo space in the trunk, and the rear seat back folds down. On the road, this car is super quiet inside, almost too quiet! I've never had a car with such little road noise inside, it's quite remarkable.
I've tried to think of something I dislike with this car, and the only 3 things I can come up with is no center armrest, the rear fold-down seat doesn't go flat since the bottom cushion is fixed, and when a CD ejects, it's not quite far enough because half the time I wind up accidentally pushing the CD back in. But those are really the only negatives I can think of, and they're nit-picky to be perfectly honest.
This is the best car I've owned...Ford has hit a grand slam with this car! And thanks to the Union workers in Michigan for putting it together, you folks don't get nearly the credit you have rightly earned.
