- Great handling, good looks, great value
- Not the roomiest or most HP in this segment
Purchased As New
I looked at and test drove many vehicles with many different trim packages in the small car segment. I settled on a basic S model 2012 Focus with a 5-speed manual because I felt it was by far the best deal for the money. I felt the 2012 Focus handled better than any other car in this class that I drove and it has ample power. I have had to drive this vehicle in some pretty harsh conditions this winter and it far exceeded my expectations. It's no AWD Subaru, but it for a 2WD car it has been impressive.
I found the interior layout to be comfortable and I had little to no difficulty accessing most controls . The seats in the base model are not very comfortable to me after about an hour of driving, but this can be fixed with some after market ones.
I also bought a base model to avoid paying thousands of dollars for the Ford Sync system with 8" touch screen.
All car makers have something similar for alot of mark up in price. I couldn't see paying thousands more for essentially what my $200 cell phone and a cheap bluetooth headset already does. Before buying an upper limit trim package I would suggest making sure that the extra gadgets are really worth the extra money.
