- Bold distinctive styling, abundance of creature comforts
- V6 AWD mileage could be better
The MSRP on our 2007 V6 SEL AWD Fusion was $27,105 (moon roof, heated leather seating, anti-lock brakes were the extras) which included a $700 destination charge.
My wife wanted a Mustang but the Fusion was her second choice. It's more practical and more comfortable. She was insistent that we not buy one of the plain Jane-looking Asian models which, when equipped like the Fusion, were around $35,000.
The many thoughtful safety factors were a big plus for the Fusion, too, as was the six-speed automatic transmission.
I like everything about the Fusion except for the 15 mpg we are getting with city driving. The EPA estimate, always optimistic, for this vehicle is 19 mpg. I am told the mileage will improve when the car gets between 3,000 and 5,000 miles on it. I sure hope so.
The car does attract many admiring glances. The ride and handling is superb; it rivals European and Asian cars costing many thousands of dollars more.
We traded in a 2000 Mazda Miata with only 7,500 miles on it and we also own a 2000 Ford Focus station wagon and a 1997 Thunderbird.
The Fusion is a cream of the crop automobile from an American company. Ford has packed the Fusion with so many nice features it's impossible to enumerate them all in this amount of space.
We are extremely pleased with our decision and would highly recommend the Fusion to anyone in the market for a new car. An inspection and test drive will make a believer out of you.
