2008 Ford Fusion
There are 3 user reviews for the V6 SE AWD trim shown below
I test drove several cars before purchasing my 2008 Fusion in January. I test drove an Accord, an Altima, a Camry, and a an F-150 but that doesn't count. I have never been happier as a driver as I am with the Fusion. It has an amazing look inside and out, the drive is better than anything in it's class, the sound system is phenominal, and you can't beat the price. This car is by far worth every cent and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something new and exciting....read morehide

- Quiet comfortable cruiser, safety is not an after thought
- fuel consumption especially in town, poor turning circle, ventilation temperature control flaw
This is a company car so I dont have to justify my purchase but can instead be objective.
Overall a Good attempt by Ford to capture the Accord / Camry buyer, with some shortcommings.
Initial findings are that quality of materials, fit and finish of the interior is not in the same league as that of Honda and Toyota.
Carpet quality is one such area
Fit and feel of the headlight switch is another
Closer inspection of areas of the dashboard which are partially hidden, reveal trim which has not been finished well etc
Overall though its very acceptable, especially to a non luxury car buyer.
The ride is comfortable if a little wallowy at low speed.
The engine while not the most refined V6 during acceleration is smooth and quiet during cruising and has more than enough power to cope with every day driving.
Road and wind noise is well controlled
Handling is different from a front wheel drive car in that understeer is not as pronounced. This encourages the driver to push on. While its fun in dry conditions, I wonder whether in icy or wet conditions if this is a good thing.
There are some nice thoughtful touches, such as the roof dome lights that project light forwards towards the driver and passenger, avoiding unecessary glare as is the case with lights mounted just above and forward of the driver.
Removable rubber inserts are set into small storage areas which make emptying and cleaning these a breeze.
The areas in need of improvement
The poor fuel consumption both intown and on the highway is a big blot on this Fords abilities. Why its so bad is unclear, especially when other US built vehicles such as the Chevy Malibu do so much better.
The turning circle is just plain poor.
A particular problem with the ventillation system is that hot air is blown into the cabin on restarting the car after a drive ofseveral miles. It seems like someone at Ford routed the air intake for the cabin too close to some hot engine components.
A liitle more attention to the ergonomic placement of various control stalks too may be worthwhile. I am not small, yet I find that the left hand stalks steering wheel mounted stalks, require a larger extension on my fingers than is normal with many other vehicles.
Sum up: Nice vehicle; withe several large flaws. While i enjoy driving the vehicle, I cannot in truth say that i would have bought it had I been paying for it out of my own pocket. My choice would likely have been either the Accord or Camry....read morehide
