- domestic AWD sedan with great 'feel'
- very pleased with this new car
my wife and i just got our 2009 Fusion SEL AWD sedan at the local dealership. we are very pleased. her other car now traded in, was a good ride; a Pontiac G6.
she was worried about changing both make and model but this cars features and feel are superb. we have had many compliments about it.
the SEL package offered most every option one could want in a car of this class, ( although i DO wish they had a locking gas cap ).
6 speed auto - she isn't a fan of a manual trans in traffic
udpated traction control - plus excellent brakes
6 Disc CD and Sirius sat radio - she LOVES her sat stations.
cellphone Sync - and she thought she wouldn't use it...(hahaha)...
upgraded stereo with wonderful tone and sound
wrapped steering wheel with on wheel controls
nice 17in wheels
fog lights / ambient lighting which is very elegant!
auto climate control
the moon roof.
and in her color Redfire metallic!
we got the fabric seats, instead of leather and they are more comfortable than we expected. she was interested in the 2 tone seat color combos, but Ford has decided to only market them in the FWD versions which is a mistake if you ask her.
our car is the 3.0 L V6 and has enough power for any reasonable ituation in city or town driving. i think the transmission could have offered a manual mode shifter for a bit more control, but she isn't that fixated on the gearbox when in her daily commute. the trans does push to be in the highest gear as quickly as possible for optimal fuel economy, which is detected when accelerating, but your foot gets attuned to how to manage this.
we looked at every domestic and import AWD car while shopping for this car, and we did look at a few SUVs at the same time. this car competes with them and at a very reasonable price point.
this design was said to be all digitally designed and i think it shows as a complete car package. the vehicle works together so smoothly. the doors close with a simply amazing sound and feel. storage truck space is more than in the G6.
two suggestions for the factory;
we both wonder if Ford can design a special storage space in these console type cars for a womans purse ...and ...i might make the cup holders a bit deeper to hold that vente latte.
we had thought about an SUV type vehicle, but this cars ride and feel are compelling and it is the AWD option which we felt was necessary. i do plan to install Bridgestone snow and ice tires before winter comes and expect this car to AWD through most any situation Mother Nature throws at us.
congratulations to the factory. they are doing a great job.
