I traded a 2007 Mustang V-6 Premium Pony Package for a 2011 Fusion SEL with 240 hp 3.0 V-6 with FWD. Yahoo Autos does not show this version on their auto web site thus I have reviewed the car as a SEL 3.0 6 cylinder AWD. Believe me, the 3.0 V-6 is available in the SEL with FWD.
I loved my Mustang, but could no longer enjoy driving it because of a bad back and hips. The car was not comfortable for me to drive anymore, so I decided I needed something with more comfort. I wanted comfort, but wanted to preserve some of the performance and style that I had in the Mustang. The 3.0 240 HP V-6 SEL Fusion was the solution to my problem. The car gives up little, if anything, in performance to the Mustang that I traded. It feels just as powerful and takes the corners almost as well as the Mustang did. The car has 17" polished alloy wheels and a spoiler. The car is very stylish and has a sport sedan look about it (A poor man's BMW?).
I had the car on a highway trip recently and the message center indicated that I was betting 32 MPG while running 70 MPH. The gas mileage is much better than what I got in my Mustang (26-27). There is no comparison in comfort. The Fusion has power, heated front seats with manual lumbar adjustment on the drivers seat. It is smooth and quiet on at highway speeds. The Sync takes some learing to fully utilize all of it's features and I love that Sirrus Satellite Radio.
The only fault that I have found so far is the poor backing visibilty. My Fusion has the back-up sensors and a rear deck lid spoiler which help solve this problem. I test drove a Fusion without a spoiler and you can't tell where the back of the car ends making backing difficult. The spoiler sits at the rear of the deck lid and gives you a reference point. That along with the sensors helps with the backing issue.
Overall I am very pleased with this car so far. Ford has done a very good job with the Fusion. The build quality and fit and finish are excellent. Ford has done so well in fact that I haven't missed my Mustang like I thought I might.
