After throwing many aftermarket parts on here, it is a totally different beast. Accelerates much quicker and sounds amazing. When I first bought the car, I had a grin for weeks. Then I found out how convertibles handles bumps on the road. It felt spongy and not very solid. Quickly fixed that problem with braces and suspension parts....read morehide

I hunted for months and found my 2004 40th edition V6 mustang its only been 3 months in with her but she acts like a new car even with 100 thousand miles already on her. I read a review about the handling been poor, well for me it handles perfectly. I know some don't like the fact that it only can seat 4, that's 2 adults in the front and 2 kids in the back. As mom with kids I have had no problems with my silver beast. I love this car, I have driven many fords prior to a mustang I think this is the best car Ford has made to date. If this mustang dies on me I will just get another...I won't drive anything else....read morehide

- Pros
- Awesome sound, Tough appearance (dispite all scoops etc. being fake), Easy to push to it's limits.
- Cons
- Doesn't have a strong low end torque feel, not much power south of 3,500 rpms.

The goods- I bought my GT about two years ago, Always been a chevy guy but I've got a good respect for the 99+ PI 4.6's. I don't think you can get a full appreciation for things like these until you've owned it. Mustang's can't be beat in terms of exhaust note, all the ducts and scoop give it a fairly menicing appearance, which is a good thing.. These Mustangs kind of emphasize the man's man thing.
When you push it north of 3.5 or so on the revs, the car gets its legs quickly, pushing fairly hard to redline. It's fun to drive, and is by far the easiest weekend quarter mile car I've ever owned, power builds fairly seemlessly and is extremely easy to control at it's limits, in a straight line or in the turns, it handles remarkably well for a rear drive pony car.
Steering feel is great, feels very precise for what it is, good stiffness with the wheel and it has a good turning rate. The 6 disc Mach system sounds great. Peddle positioning is good for heel/toe, overall comfort is better then expected, as is ride quality. So far no real reliability issues.. Ha, it's got a bit of a mind of its own, if I go 10 miles over the recommended oil change mark, it develops an attitude, sputters a bit at idol and takes a bit to work out the first start engine chatter.. Most cars do, it's just reallyyy noticeable with this 4.6l.
The bad- (Now remember though, this comes from owning both types, not playing favorites.) The interior is dated, the extent of the plastic was typical for the type of car, I do love the premium's black and silver coloring. The clutch feels like it's going to up and die after a few hard runs.. The 3650 tranny is far superior to the old T45, gearbox whine is pretty normal for cars like these in first and reverse, however in this Mustang it's highly audible in first, second, and third gear.
There is a significant amount of drivetrain clunking that I thought was either tranny mount or u-joints when I got the car, but after checking it out and doing some research, thats just how the drivetrain's are in these. Also it loves to bob back and forth in first gear in parking lots and situations like that.
I was really dissapointed in the power output, even after a tune, cai, lt's, x-pipe, and dumped super 44's (which sound awesome btw.) which did help very noticeably, the motor feels overwhelmed trying to push the car. In my Chevy's (94 LT1 Z28 6sp, 2k3 50th C5) I'm used to having huge low end torque, and the rpms flying off idle to top scream, either by grabbing and going, or sittin and burning, precise- not too high shifts to stay in the powerband, constant feel of rear kick, and literaly miliseconds looking from the rpm gauge to the road/track in front of me..
Not with the Mustang, you can punch it in revs, look around, wave at someone, give a thumbs up, and it would almost be time to shift.. Now I know some people say all that is a great thing about Mustangs, but I disagree.. This car gives you nothing to be afraid of. Pony car's by origin were light weight, smaller cars running with small and large block's that to any sane person, had no right being in the engine bay. I believe a true pony/muscle/sports car should scare you, and when it does, you'll respect it.
These GT's can be tough, and can be just enough to get some, namely younger or irresponsable drivers hurt. But from a gearhead's perspective, there's nothing to fear from these, it is a good value, fun little car.. But if serious driving, power, and the occasional weekend open drag's are your thing, this isn't the car for you. It just doesn't deliver, however, 03-04 Mach 1's and Cobra's... Completely different ballpark, also, LT1 and LS1 F-bodies are still out there....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Great sound, great power, great look.Handles great and will turn heads.
- Cons
- Road noise on some surfaces, proably more the big tires.
Waited a long time to get a new muscle car.Owned a 70 dodge challenger,78 Dodge Super Coupe,73 Ford Grand Tirino. This car has the power of the old muscle cars ,but is a lot more refined in handling and ride. Put this car into a curve hit the gas and power though it. Your butt will move in the seat ,before it brakes traction and tries to slide. Bought the car new in 12/03 and it has never been back to the dealer for repair. Makes me wonder did I waste my money on the extended warranty?...read morehide

- Pros
- Excellent performance, Limited edition, Eyecatcher
- Cons
- Requires premium fuel, Stock tires not great
This is an excellent vehicle for the money. It handles really well as long as you don't push it too close to the limits. For spirited driving the stock tires are not up to the task. That can be solved real easy though. The Mach1 also responds well to performance add-ons.

- Pros
- Nice sound, starts to feel like sports car after 4000 rpm
- Cons
- Automatic V8 should be more sporty design, V6 could be the granny style
I love my convertible. It's a dream car. Handles very well. Best car I ever had. Still if the roof could be water resistance it could be even better like perfect.
I am a Ford guy. This is my 6th Ford and my next car will be definetly Ford also.0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Excellent power, nice interior, appearence.
- Cons
- Ride is not the greatest, shaker scoop limits view, bad handling.
This car is an excellent car, except for one thing, the handing on this car is good, but under extreme emergency driving, the handling is not the best. My sister recently was in a crash with this car, because it spun out of control. The traction has an option to be turned on or off, the dealership recommends that you turn it off when the roads are dry or in acceptable conditions. Traction should be kept on in all times for an emergency. Sound system is good quality, the interior is nicely done. Seats are comfortable, and the ride is okay. Ford should've made the option to turn the traction on/off, not an option....read morehide
