- Style and performance
- very cheap looking plastic shifter.
To qualify my review let me explain, this is the first new car I have ever purchased, I have for many years restored and driven classic cars from the 40's to the 70's, My favorite of all my classics was a 1970 Mercury Cyclone GT with a 4V Cleveland and top loader 4-speed, a very fast and fun car.
I have never been a fan of "new" cars, especially the way they have been built for the last 20 or so years. But,that was until my 05 Mustang. I have always wanted to find a replacement for my Cyclone GT, I loved the way it handled and the raw performance at my foot, Well I have now found my replacement, I absolutely love this mustang, the styling could have been a little more retro to the late 60's mustangs for my taste but I am not complaining, its a beautiful car with nice lines and the more I sit in the leather seat the more comfortable it becomes, I like it because its not over the top trying to look like a european car and retains that classic mustang look and feel with a somewhat modern look. Good job FORD!...read morehide

- Styling, Body rigidity, engine power, ease of putting up/dn top, Shaker 500 stereo
- ABS optional on 05's, plastic overdone in interior, no fog lamps on 05's
Couldn't be happier with this car. Just did first oil change and no problems yet. (knock on wood) I just wish Ford had put a little thought into the interior appearance. Beautiful exterior, interior styling is great, just too much plain plastic. Go buy the new classic Stang.

- Looks, style and PRICED AT INVOICE!!
- Too much plastic but who doesnt
Just got a loaded 06 premium, leather, sec sys, automatic, interior upgrade, boot, locking wheels, side air bags, ABS with traction control pretty much all but Pony PKG and I got it at INVOICE! 27144 MSRP was 29355. The deals are coming now since supply has caught up with demand. That was worth the wait for me for a new 2006. GT still had 3500 kicker on them.....who needs one unless you are a kid or going through a mid life crisis??!!...read morehide

- Great ride, seats, vision, style and performance.
- Passenger seat sits to low, top seems to take to long to go up & down
Have 800 miles in. Best Mustang I have owned (3rd one). Great ride and comfortable seats, great trunk space. Like the color red(metalic).

- cool exterior; great to look at; good set of features in premium package
- get the leather wrap steering wheel upgrade, as the plastic wheel is low quality.
If you are late boomer (40+) like me and remember the Mustang's of the 60s and very early 70's (your childhood before the energy crisis), then this car is for you. But, if it doesnt cause your heart to thump, pulse to quicken, and your throat to tighten just by looking at it ... then don't buy it - buy a civic - a mustang is an emotional purchase - it will help you overlook some of the minor issues!
I purchased straight off the lot a windveil blue premium convertible w/ charcoal leather interior, abs, traction control, wheel locks, ext. sport package, automatic - truly beautiful.
My experience so far -
Lots of fun, great to look at and drive. I've got a few comments from complete strangers. V6 sounds great, handles excellent and is fun in the turns (my other car is an Expedition so its all relative).
Put the top down and turn up the volume ... this is one fun ride!
Interior finish looks great in retro terms, but materials could have been upgraded by Ford ... they are too plastic. Shaker stereo is excellent playing mp3's (record at slow speeds 2x 4x to avoid skipping) - i have about 50 albums on 6 cds - no shortage of music! Get the Interior Sport or the Upgrade Package - the steering wheel wrap alone is worth the money. If you want the 125 colors on the dash then get the Upgrade for 450.
Gas mileage seems to be an issue - i had hoped to get in the low 20s for combined city/highway but dont think i'm getting that ... oh well.
NJ dealers are pushing 3-5k over MSRP - NY dealer was MSRP.
I could probably write a lot more about it ... just get in one and you'll decide for yourself ... it will resonate or not....read morehide

- Beautiful shape, distinctive sounding engine (LOUD!), way fun to drive
- Interior a little less polished than it should be, not fuel efficient
With respect to PRICE:
It IS possible to buy this car in the DC metro at a price in between invoice and MSRP. I did! We have 20+ Ford dealers here, and if the dealer you are working with has a mustang on the lot, then obviously the demand is not so high that there are none to be had for a reasonable price... and if they aren't being reasonable, go to one of the other 19 dealers! Bottom line, you don't have to buy into the "regional market adjustment".
Overall, this is a great car! For the first month, I had permi-grin and roared around under the impression that all other non-2005 mustang drivers wanted to be me (as evidenced by smiles and stares). It growls, has a beautiful design, and is a lot of fun to drive. Also, come on... CONVERTIBLE! Though you shouldn't expect to outrace bigger performance cars in the V-6 premium, the engine still has good pick up and enables you to go fast enough to zip in and out of traffice. The 5-speed shifts well and the clutch is not so stiff that it hurts your foot while you're sitting bumper to bumper. The front seats are pretty comfortable (who knows or cares about the back - you're the driver!)...read morehide

- Fast, fun, handles on curves better than the 2001 vette
- headrest, top takes forever to put up or down
My dad bought the car but i am the main driver of it. I used to drive a 93 mustang LX but my dad now drives that or his motorcycle. The 05 destroys my 93. The 05 handles curves and corners better in my opinion than the 2001 vette i test drove for two days. The traction control is great it doesn't mess up any part of the driving experience. I must say the vette stopped just a hair quicker and of course walks the V6 mustang. However i'm very satisfied with the mustang over the vette, which says something. The 05 has trouble going into reverse from time to time you just have to not try to force into gear, put it back into first and edge up a little and try reverse again, if your used to driving Manual Fords you already probbaly know that is common. Its difficult to get a size fourteen foot through the door without getting scuffs on those huge door speakers. The car is fun and fast I highly recommend it. NO it isn't a V8 but that would just get my 19 year old college kid self into trouble. Don't get me wrong this one will get you into trouble 2....read morehide
