- Off The Assembly Line American Muscle is Back
- Twenty Grand Dealer Markup
Ladies and Gentleman,
Considering Ford only produced 1000 Shelby GT 500s in 2007, the price reflects the limited production run. I own a 2006 Mustang GT Covertible and owned 3 Mustang GTs prior to my latest. My point is, no matter how hot the GT 500 is, it is still an assembly line Shelby and I don't believe it is worth a 20 grand markup. If I were to purchase a tricked out Mustang GT for 43,000 plus and a dealer markup of another 20 grand; I would opt for a Saleen Mustang. Playboy Magazine listed the GT 500 as the best bang for the buck and I will agree, until the dealers send the sticker price into the stratosphere. Undoubtledy Ford will increase production in 2008, if and when demand rises; but regardless, the car will not retain the value of a 20 grand dealer markup.
