Purchased As Used
I will not trade this car. I will keep this car until it cost too much money to fix. That is how much I love this car.

- comfort (amazing), mileage, storage, safety features,
- only one, I would like to see more of a color selection, Interior and exterior
I had 4 criterias that would have to be met in order to accept a new car, Those would be "Comfort", "Safety", "Storage", & "All Wheel Drive". After about 2 months in liesurely looking around in certain dealers, and spending virtually all afternoon on a Sunday one day, looking for Hybrid SUVs ( VERY disappointed that none were on any lots for testing), I reluctantly asked for a Ford 500 at the last dealer of the day. I was amazed after sitting down in the new Taurus (old 500), that the seats were just as supportive as some of the very expensive Cadillacs that we had tried out just for the heck of it. The seats were a top priority due to my partners spinal condition causing intense pain at times. The back seats are more roomy than anyone would expect, since the cabin was designed first, then the body around the cabin. The mileage is quoted as around 24 MPG highway for the All Wheel Drive version and 17 MPG city. During longer trips from Cincinnati to Knoxville Ten. and Alabama, I was quite surprised to see the mileage anywhere from 26.8 MPG @ 65 mph, to at times 31 MPG at 60 or so MPH. This coming from an engine that gives 263 Horsepower with a variable speed transmission. SO, if I really wanted to waste the gasoline, I could do it easily! . The storage is better than any car in it's class with the trunk holding 8 fully loaded Golf Bags! which doesn't matter to me because I'm not a golfer, BUT I do take quite a few flowers to flower shows around the Midwest and other parts of the country and this helps out greatly. The passenger back seat folds down along with the front seat to hold items up to 9 feet long through the trunk if needed. I can't quote all the safety features here, but lets just suffice it to say that this car is built upon the Volvo frame, and with the 6 air bags and reinforced above head steal cage, it set's a new standard for safety in american cars. If you read up on the safety features yourself, I'm sure you'll be quite impressed. The bonus features would be the GPS which is an amazing piece of electronics. I always got quite nervous when getting lost since I drive long distances quite often, but NOT NOW!. In fact, even when it says "Guidance cannot be provided in this area", It STILL DOES IT!. Also, the "Factory" stereo is awesome!. with 2 sub woofers and 9 speakers, this thing has more base without being increased than most cars do after being custom installed !. I can't say enough about this car. I'm SO Happy with it!. The only thing I would have liked to see is more exterior color choices along with more complimentary interior colors....read morehide

- Nice looking car, comfy, not your Grandparents car anymore. Classy
- Gas mileage not near as what was recommended. Yet to get anything more than 19mpg highway or in town
I've had three SUV in the past, loved them, but wanted something for "me" this time. Glad I did, smoother ride, plusher etc..

- Consumer Report just gave the Ford most recomended car! All 44 Ford models passed C.R.recomendation
- Toyota Camry with Lexus dropped from Consumer Report list of recomended cars & truck!
A great achievement by Ford Motors that all 44 car and truck models passed Consumer report recomendations. It only means they are making quality cars, but some Toyota, Lexus and trucks are not recomended by Consumer Reports due to quality and mechanical problems reported to them by consumers. I just don't know how the Camry became Motor Trend's car of the year!...read morehide

- Love the new look. Love the performance from the engine. More power
- Steering wheel not a telescopic wheel like the Fushion. Seems so far away and can be uncomfortable
I like the new styling of the Ford Taurus. The front end is more sporty and make the car look luxury also. I have a black Taurus and had the windows tinted and also had a spoiler put on. It make the car look very sporty and luxury. I looked at other cars like the Toyota, Honda, Chevy Impala, even Dodge products and came back to the Taurus. I have owned many of the older ones from 1986 to 2004 and when they discontinue the name, I thought it was a bad idea. I then purchase the new Fushion and love it. But the Taurus is for me now. It has more room and more features....read morehide

- Classy looking car. Beautiful interior and very roomy. Large trunk for loads of extra space.
- Front seats are VERY uncomfortable.
Indentations on both front seats that I'm told is an air bag sensor. The seats are very lumpy. I'll have to buy a cushion in order to drive and i only have 400 miles on the car. Very disappointing. How I miss my 2000 Taurus wagon!

- Plenty of power, acceleration and good bracking. Safest car in class, comfortable seats on long trip
- None, people think it's so-so because of the name but change their minds after seeingit & riding in
Great value, tops in safety, good handling, best AWD system in use (much better than previous vehicle, Subaru, engine has great torque and plenty of passing lane power. Mileage is slightly better than EPA ratings, co-workers really appreciate enormous back seat leg room and kids like the DVD system. Looks, feels, and sounds like a well built vehicle as trim aligns nicely and materials are above average. This is my first Ford in over 15 years and things have really, really changed in a positive way....read morehide
