I am a car fanatic, I researched many performance sedans, tried them out, read reviews etc. I came back to the SHO because its the best bang for the buck and hands down the fastest (speed matters). That being said, I am not a slow driver, the vehicle returns a average 20 MPG. Note, this is not a Chevy Volt, it has two turbos so those looking for amazing gas mileage should look for say a Volt or Prius.
As far as transmission problems or engine problems I have not had any, however I am a firm believer in bumper to bumper extended warranties on any vehicle.
The interior is classy and loaded with every feature you could think of. It rides sporty however at 4200LBS its does have its limits (not a slouch by any stretch). Interior space is ample (this is not a small car). The Voice NAV system is easy to use once you have the car a couple weeks. I was worried about the voice nav problems I saw in some reviews, however I found that after it says speak your command or you press the voice button, simply wait about two seconds before saying your command instead of blurting it out as soon as the button is hit. The sound system (Sony) sounds great, with plenty of thump power. I was amazed at the lack of wind and road noise, its like riding in a vault.
Synopsis..... This car is perfect for anyone who had, thought or wanted a WRX, EVO, Stang, or Camaro but tastes have refined. Since it is a Taurus dads and moms dreading driving a bland run of the mill foreign import mid size could easily hull the kids around in style as well. Personally, I shutter at the thought of any kid even looking at the interior of my car.
