Purchased As Used
I have owned two 1997 thunderbirds. I have had the pleasure of both the V6 version and the V8 version. The V6 had cloth and the V8 has leather. I purchased the V6 with 109K on it and drove it for 6 years and put over 60,000 miles on it. I only had to do ball joints and a mass air flow sensor. I just bought the V8 with 71K on it and have put on 3,000 miles on it so far without a major problem. The comfort of the seats is amazing whether leather or cloth. As far as fuel economy goes the V6 will get you close to 31 mpg highway and the V8 will get you a reasonable 24 mpg highway with about a 20 mpg average. I recommend the V8 with the leather and sunroof and cd player with the premium sound. I have very little bad to say about this car except that when going over 60 mph on the highway your window will not roll up properly without opening the passenger window due to the aerodynamics of the car pulling the window out of it's track slightly. I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a reliable good looking car to drive.
