this car is all one can dream of. it gets attention no matter what its parked next to. I bought it used a couple of weeks ago with 46,500 miles on it and the car is like new. I drove 250 miles to pic it up and the drive back was amazing! this is a cross country driver, weekend cruiser or whatever you like, this car can fill the bill. of all the retro designs out there, ford got this right the first time. Major repairs at 60K without mfg recall

Always wanted the 50s porthole - purchased the '02 with 13K miles and sold at 72K. My mechanic said it ran better than any mustang he ever opened up. It was the retro yellow and you make friends almost every time you get out of the car - lol - always had strangers speak and walk up to look at the car. They would pass up a $100K Mercedes to look at the T'Bird. She was a wonderful driving car - always had a buzz in the steering - not good at my age for the long trips but a dream car for around town and short trips. There was a leaking issue at doors and electrical issues when run through a car wash, which did little good anyway on yellow, so to keep it really clean, always washed by hand. We had to replace the coil packs at 60K and the head gaskets at about 65K. Major repairs that are Ford recalls on the 2003 and above but not the 2002. Also had a safety bag spring go bad. The top takes two men to remove, make sure you have a rack or somewhere to place the top during nice weather. You will need a racking system or a soft packing system over the trunk for luggage on extended trips. Oh, people also liked to vandalize this car - ink pens and keys scratching the sides. Park away from major areas of vehicles. You will love your T'bird just look for the major things mentioned before purchasing. We sold for more room with new granddaughter and aging parents.
