Dont get if you are ooking for the advertised 25MP

by JB from NY,NY (5/08/08)
Pros:Stylish, handles good, and power is good
Cons:Horrible gas mileage, interior is small

The car is OK but I bought it for the advertised gas mileage on the highway of 25MPH. I get 16.7 on all the resets I have done. I commute to work everyother week of 112 miles a day. I contacted Ford and they said it needed a break in period. I have 7000 miles and it is still horrible. I need help to get out of this lease. They falsely advertised the gas mileage and all they can give is an apology.

08 Ltd AWD - Lovin it

by Scratch from Sask, Canada (4/29/08)
Pros:Comfort, very very quiet, rock solid on the road.
Cons:Brakes are soft, rear vision is bad, blind spot on driver side is huge.

Ordered the Edge for delivery in Charleston SC.(Palmetto Ford, very helpful and courteous, would recommend to all) took delivery and headed for Saskatchewan, Canada. 3 days in the car, 12 hrs per day, 3200 miles and a smile on my face the whole way. 22 to 23 mpg running at 75 to 80 mph most of the time. Audiophile and vista roof make cruising a blast. Performance is good and handling is great with the exception of the brakes which are very mushy. Overall a great value and a great looking ride.

Best CUV we looked at with a reasonable price

by Kim from Allegan, Michigan (4/26/08)
Pros:very roomy, great CUV for the price, perfect for family
Cons:cargo area could be taller

We looked at all the crossovers, and we were pretty set on the BMW. After having a horrible experience with a first year Focus we were NOT interested in a Ford, but a friend of mine got an Edge. I looked at it - just to be polite-and it was very big on the inside. I went home, did some research, and went for a test drive. Later that day I walked out with a new Edge. We are an active family of four with a huge dog, and it works very well for us. At about $15,000 to $20,000 less than the BMW and a lot roomier. The insurance is very reasonable also. We got a AWD but haven't had a chance to try it yet, but living in Michigan we will.

Silly design choices dog this otherwise nice car

by D from Syracuse (4/22/08)
Pros:Large, Comfy, good seating position, looks espensive, quiet
Cons:Frustrating and questionable design choices

I was impressed with the quiet smooth ride, the light steering and the expensive feel this (rental) car had. I did feel the car was a tad underpowered. Still, 18mpg is not bad at all for a car this large.

However, the headlight control was located in the bottom right corner of the dash, where it's really impossible to see while sitting upright and in the dark. These things should be in obvious places on the layout; not tucked away; it was rather irritating that the headlights would not turn off when ignition left the car, but rather a clunky alarm sounded out reminding me to do so.

Fuel hatch is very cheap and disappointing. Its as simple as flip open, unscrew and fuel up. No release handle or lock. I don;t know if the hatch locks up when the keys leave the ignition, but if not, this is a very questionable and cheap design choice. It leaves the vehicle open to tampering with the fuel. Rather deliberately thoughtless

I found that the little things that matter, were much better laid out in the Subaru Impreza I own, and that costs 15000 less even if you can't really compare the two. Forget giving your product an "Edge", first, kindly sort out the basics.

Okay, but make sure you can't find anything better

by kv from central coast, ca (4/22/08)
Pros:Smooth ride, roomy interior and cargo area
Cons:HUGE blind spots, and the gas milage is not as good as represented. I am getting about 15 to 20 mpg

I really like my car, but the blind spots are pretty big, and the milage is poor. I was also disappointed with the input for my mp3 player as it can't be controlled with the cd/mp3 controller on the stereo, which I thought was a bit misleading. I also get a huge static shock every time I exit the car and go to close the door. When you accelerate rapidly, it is easy to peel out, and it sometimes feels a little unstable. It is a very comfy ride and the backseat has plenty of room for adults.

Good Ride

by Jeff from Indy (4/22/08)
Pros:Just went to Florida from Indianapolis got excellent mileage and rides great. 18" wheels
Cons:bad food on the road.

Large fuel tank and spacious interior made for good trip. Sits up high for good vision. Fog lights came in handy in morning driving in Alabama.

Great vehicle!

by Graz from Ypsilanti, Michigan (4/21/08)
Pros:Great ride, great style. Vista roof and Sync are very nice.
Cons:Mileage is okay, parking assist feature is the only thing that enables it to be parked safely.

This is one hot-looking vehicle that is a pleasure to drive! The interior is very nice and the seats are extremely comfortable. The Sync is great once I got used to using the proper commands. The only flaw with it is in the use of a Bluetooth phone with media stream capabilities. When the vehicle is shutoff and parked after using the USB port for an iPod, it defaults to Bluetooth for media streaming when I get back into the vehicle and start it. other than that, no complaints.

I've made a couple trips of a few hours in length and I'm not at all achy like I was when I was driving a smaller car.

Best Vehicle I've ever owned!

by Ryan Tobler from Tacoma,WA (4/21/08)
Pros:AWSOME POWERTRAIN!!!!! STYLE, COMFORT, ADVANCETRAC/RSC, SAFE, AND YEAH THE GIRLS LOVE IT!
Cons:18.9 MPG but still have only driven it 500 miles so far and "lead footing it a little."

I absolutely love this CUV. Alot of people complain about the braking but mine stops on a dime handles as well as my previous passenger cars. I think the people who don't the breaking distance don't have the traction control or are turning it off with the switch on the dash.

I LOVE my edge and was originally considering the escape. I would recomend this vehicle to anyone who wants the best of all worlds.
