A SUV TO DRIVE FOR

by J Cooper from Apple Valley, CA (5/04/08)
Pros:I like larger vehicles. This is my second Expedition. Had 2003 Navigator and two Town Cars.
Cons:The small backup camera image is in the rearview mirror. Better to have been on the GPS screen.

My previous Expedition was an Eddie Bauer 4x2. The upgrades in the 2008 version make it superior to even the 2003 Navigator I owned. I like not having an ashtray, although I don't understand why there is still a cigarette lighter! The seats are comfortable; the spaciousness is outstanding; ease of entry and exit are very good; the automatic tailgate and third-row seats are outstanding features; and the body style and trim are first-class. I am not as impressed with Sirius radio (free for six months) as I am with XM, which we have in our other vehicles. Engine power, steering, and ease of parking are strong features. The controls on the audio system could be easier to see and use. The fold-down side mirrors are a plus, especially given the

Ford Expedition is #1

by LouLu from Houston, TX (4/29/08)
Pros:Beautiful, comfortable, quiet
Cons:Nothing

The only thing that could be considered a "con" is the 14.9 MPG, but if that was something I considered a deal-breaker, I wouldn't have looked at SUV's. That said, I traded my 2000 Expedition for a 2006 Explorer in October 2006. While I loved my Explorer, I really missed the roomy interior that the Expedition has. Three weeks ago, we traded it for a 2008 Expedition and I love, love, love everything about it. It is extremely quiet, even at high speeds. It has interior room that surpasses even the Suburban. It is big and beautiful, and commands attention and respect on the road. I have never loved a vehicle as much as this one, hands down.

Perfect family vehicle.

by billdariocpa from Mission, TX (4/09/08)
Pros:Ride is quiet and smooth. Legroom and cargo space. Power everything.
Cons:Brakes a bit soft sometimes.

Ford outdid the competition with this vehicle. This blows away the GM products in legroom, interior asthetics, and cargo room/versatility. The Nissan Armada LE has comparable technology features for the same price, but lags way behind in ride quality and interior materials used. The Toyota Seqoia gives the Expedition a run for its money, but costs a few grand more out the dealership door for the same options and looks a bit bloated to me. Purchased a Limtied Expedition with all options except power running boards. The Nav is easy to use and love the voice activation and ability to control stereo, nav, dvd, etc. all in one central area. Was skeptical paying the $2k extra, but well worth it. The ride is amazingly quiet and smooth and the truck handles very well for something that is 6k lbs. The cargo room and versatility is better than any SUV on the market today and so is the leg room, especially in the 3rd row (just compare 3rd row leg room specs to any other SUV). The quality of the interior materials is above average compared to the competition. I drove the Navigator and considered buying one, but could not get past the Navigator grill, but was pleased that I could purchase a fully loaded Expedition Limited that handled and rode the exact same for the out the door price of an entry level Navigator. As with any large SUV don't expect to run laps around any one or get 30 mpg on the highway, but acceleration is better than expected and gas mileage seems to be around 15 in town and 18 or so on the highway, so it could be worse. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who needs to use a 3rd row on a regular basis and still have the flexibility of having a folding 3rd row for additional cargo when needed, so that it is not necessary to but a Suburban or EL for that matter. If you are in the market for a full size SUV this is a must drive vehicle to compare to the competition.

Best SUV for large families

by Bruckner Pacific from Northern NJ (4/07/08)
Pros:Great for large families, handles amazingly for vehicle its size, rearview camera
Cons:gas mileage

I love my new Ford Expedition EL Eddie Bauer. We have five kids and we are able to ride in much more comfort in the Expedition then we could in our Town & Country minivan. The truck handles great in the snow (I drove home from the hospital in a snowstorm in low 4x4 mode and the truck was superb). The rearview camera is intuitive and I can't imagine backing this large truck up without one. We looked at the GM, Toyota and Nissan competitors, and they couldn't compare on a quality/price basis. We bought our Expedition for about $40k and no competitor comes close.

Steering is impressive and solid. Acceleration is responsive. The only downside is gas mileage - we don't do well (but most of our driving is on local streets).

GREAT VEHICLE

by SW from Durant, OK (2/29/08)
Pros:Very roomy, smooth ride, love the upgrades
Cons:Blind spot in review mirror when DVD player is down

We purchased this vehicle on 2/8/08 brand new. We love the way it rides and all the room. Great compartments in the cargo area. With only 800 miles on it so far, our gas mileage is 14.9 which we don't feel is too bad considering the size. The kids love the DVD entertainment center and we as parents love the wireless headphones so we can still listen to the radio. Overall we are extremely happy with our new expedition.

WONDERFUL

by Andrew from Scottsdale, Arizona (2/04/08)
Pros:POWER RUNNING BOARDS, BACKUP CAMERA, GPS NAVAGATION
Cons:SHOULD HAVE PARKING SENSORS IN THE FRONT

I bought my 2008 Expedition EL Limited 4X4 back in October. I have had no issues with this SUV so far. I would recommend that everyone who wants to buy one make sure that it will fit in your garage, mine fits but barely! Interior room is excellent. Great to haul around 7 people in like I did for a Super bowl party, also great for my two 110 pound German Shepherds. The air conditioned seats are world-class and work perfectly here in Arizona. I bought this SUV because I will be moving to snow country soon, so I have yet to try the heated seats.

My two complaints are that a SUV which has parking sensors in the back should also have them in the front like the Land Rover Range Rover has, this SUV is very long and I like to make sure I am pulled as far up as possible when I park so the rear end does not stick out. Second complaint is that Ford is not offering this car with Microsoft

Best Large SUV on the Market.

by Dr. Klose from Illinois (11/29/07)
Pros:Love how its a truck when you need it to be and a car when you want it to be
Cons:fuel economy; compared to other SUVs like it is decent.

Bought this one and now will probably pass it on to the wife now that I hear that a diesel will be coming out with in two years. Should have the same power with much better torque and fuel economy. If 8,000 lb F250s can get nearly 20MPG, I would think that the expedition with a smaller engine could get 25MPG. With two expeditons I'll never have buy another vehicle again. Ford pays much more attention to the smaller details than anyone else. These things will last you forever if you wanted them to.

Satisfaction

by John Moller, Sr. from Johnston, Iowa (11/12/07)
Pros:Not the best, but I had worse
Cons:I agree re: Brakes

I traded a Jeep Commander for the expedition, not that
I did not like the Commander, I just preferred the room.
Gas milage was a litle better than the Jeep- it had the 5.7 Hemi- had better pick up, but is lighter vehicle.

This is my fourth Expedition and hope to have a few more.
