A great working man's vehicle

by Roger from Wilson, MI (4/03/08)
Pros:23mpg on the highway 19mpg on short trips
Cons:No complaints

I am very happy with my 2007 Freestar. It performs well and gets very good gas mileage. This is a car that is designed for the person who want good value at a very reasonable price. I have had this van for two years and have almost 30,000 miles on it with no repairs necessary. It is just a good vehicle.

horror

by David Montesi from stroudsburg pa (11/30/07)
Pros:Good comercials on tv
Cons:I am a father of five and saved for a van. I have had nothing but trouble with ford

Ford has been nothing but trouble to deal with and I would not take a free car due to the fact that the repairs will cost more than any other vehicle.

dependable, economic kid carrier

by Steve B. from Tucson (11/21/07)
Pros:The fuel economy is excellent, as I get 20 mpg in town, consistently. 25 on freeway, if careful

The biggest con-comment I have about this car, is that it's under appreciated by others. It's a dependable and for me, valuable product. I'm hauling kids around all day, 6 or 7 days a week. So I'm in it all the time. I'm pleased. But disapointed that it's DC'd for '08. That will depreciate the value of my car.

Ford Freestar

by fred from Mex. City (10/24/07)
Pros:Powerful Minivan, spacious interior
Cons:Fuel economy

Well, I live in Mexico City, in July I went to San Antonio in a rented Ford Freestar LX.
It was a fabulous, 14 hours in the minivan without a stop and the minivan was spacious and comfortable.
Wow
By 2009 Flex will be the sustitute of the Freestar, hope its as comfortable as this.

The For minivan is not at the top of my list

by Heather from Dallas, PA (9/24/07)
Pros:good for 30,000 mi
Cons:has transmission problems at only 32000 miles

I got this van mostely bacause I found it with a good price tag on it. I don't think that I would get this van again though. The seats are not the most conferatable, it definitly isn't the minivan with the most leg room and it keeps having little mechanical problems. The DVD player has never worked quite right, even when there is no DVD in the thing it never shuts off, you can always here the thing spinning. This van also doesn't have good gas milage for a minivan, and now after only 32,000 miles I am having problems with the transmission. I am going to have it looked at, but I am afraid that this van is already on its way out. somebody who knows more about cars than me told me that the Ford minivan is not rated very good on its tranmission at all.

Now I am not dicouraging you from getting a ford vehical, because all of their other cars are rated great. I have had other fords in the past; in fact I still have a 1998 for contour with 100,000mi and the thing runs like new. My brother has a 1999 ford taurus and the thing is still running good with something like 185,000 mi. Their Minivan though is not rated all that well and I would probably not recommend buying it.

Transmission nightmare

by No Ford Fan from Louisville, KY (9/10/07)
Pros:Good for a large family, LOVE DVD Player for Kids
Cons:Brakes loud, transmission unreliable

Handle on rear hatch was poorly designed and comes off easily. Transmission went out at 60,000 miles and dealership charged almost $3000 to replace even though I still owed over $13,000.00 on the vehicle. Heard from 2 other Freestar owners that actually work for Ford that this transmission is the worst Ford ever made. Expected better gas mileage.

Freestar aims high - misses the mark

by Ford Fan from Winston-Salem, NC (8/09/07)
Pros:Smooth controlled ride, good front seats, nice interior
Cons:4.2 V-6 averages 14-16 mpg., anemic acceleration, rapid depreciation

Rear brakes went out at 40K miles, total replacement of rotors, calipers and pads. Apparently faulty design, but not under warranty. Automatic doors hard to open and close manually. Unlike Honda or Chrysler, lots of wasted interior space. Noisy engine at speed. Tricky 3rd row seat can face front or rear, but not really practical except forward. On trips this van holds lots of stuff, gets about 20 mpg highway. Mostly disappointed in gas mileage and depreciation.

Comfort and Style need some help.

by David Beaty from Tacoma, WA (7/07/07)
Pros:I got a good deal on it. Bought it at 12k miles. Certified Pre-Owned till 06/2012 or 100,000 miles
Cons:Had a 2000 Windstar and family says the seats in the Freestar are far less comfortable in many ways.

This is my third Ford minivan a 1996 Windstar and a 2000 Windstar and Now a 2007 Freestar. From the start of the Freestar I have not liked the boxy interior compared to the rounded formed and molded Windstars. The front seat belts look like they were afterthoughts. As I have already said the seats are less comfortable. The Windstar allowed for me to move the middle seat from side to side, Our new Freestar puts the middle seat sorta in the middle what that does is makes it so the 3rd row is not easily accesible from either side. The back seats sit lower to the floor. Not the end of the world for small children but for my pre-teen daughter and any adult it makes it extremely uncomfortable. Because the back seat can not slide and because of the centered position of the middle seat the middle row needs to be knee jamming close to the front seat. The ride of a new 2007 seemed rougher than the ride of our 2000 but that also may have been because the harder seats. I don't know if there is a more comfortable seating package but if there is you should certainly go with it. The reason I bought this vehicle is because of the price value and the Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle coverage of 6 years 100,000 miles. Please don't think I am complaining I am sastified with the value of my purchase just letting you know about things you might want to consider. I ultimately believe that my God the Lord Jesus Christ provided my family with the right vehicle for the right price at the right time. I did a lot of research before buying this and believe it was the best value within a 300 mile radius in the Pacific NW. I have only owned this vehicle for 2 days but so far am happy with it.
