After a great deal of research, I concluded the Canyon would be the best value in its class......I'm not disappointed. I chose the 242hp 3.7 l5. which has an epa rating of 17/23 mpg. The truck, which is only a few months old has been getting 20 mpg overall. Overall this truck is was great purchase.........I have saved $1,000s over its competition....read morehide

- 2.9L V4 !!!, smooooth tranny (man.), very comfortable interior and ride, SUNROOF....
- Slight wind rush from rear doors, cheesy int. sunroof cover, better design and use of storage areas.
I had been eyeballin a used late model S10 x-cab, a Colorado or a new Toyota Tacoma x-cab, then I went to see the new Canyon, the one I liked was the x-tra cab with the off-road package (similar to the Toyota Pre-runner pkg.). First, it looks much better than the Colorado and the Toyota. Then I took a ride with 2 other big guys WITH the A/C fully cranked and fell for it. I couldnt believe I was driving a 4 cyl. engine...It had all the features I wished for and then some. I felt everything was top notch, not the fit and finish like a Toyota Tacoma, BUT, damn close!, and I saved 9 grand!!! The deal I got was fantastic, so I bought American and have enough money left over for a new bed accessory, a brand new Titus mtn. bike. The best part of the whole deal was the ability to get financed with a great rate from GMAC (I dont use CC's)THANK YOU! I have a 1000 miles on my baby (Christy), so she really hasnt been broken in yet. I have yet to see the mileage that was advertised, but I also live in the hills with some uphill driving to do. We will see. The 2.9L is the best 4 cyl engine that I have sat behind, and the manual tranny is soooo smooth. I just hope someone comes out with some aftermarket performance parts, not that it needs it, but it is fun to trick out your truck. Lastly, I purchased my truck at North County GMC and compared to other dealerships that I WAS dealing with, it was the best car buying experience I have had yet...GREAT JOB! They structured a GREAT deal for me and not only do I love my truck but I dont dread the payment.............read morehide

This truck really does rule the streets, these new engines GM has come up with are the best ever for the mid-size trucks. Now I did replace the intake with a K&N and put a magna flow exhaust on mine, and let me tell you; the beast in now loose. So all of you who own an import pick-up with a I4 need to trade for a better truck or get out of my way. I picked the GMC over the Chevy because from what I have heard, the people at GMC have a better inspection process team than the chevy. So quality control is better. Now both have the same parts and engines but I like the "Proffesional Grade" of the GMC....read morehide

- vortec intake, exhuast system, needs to be replaced to unlock the engines better performance
This truck has power to spare. I purchased the I4 and after some slight modifications the true power of this beast was unleashed. I have stomped the toyota, snd nissan in its class, and have even taken those BS V6 nismos after some further mods. Still need to find a tacoma that has the stones to go against me....read morehide

- It should of had a 40 channel CB with the weather channel already mounted in it.
This is my first GM truck in 5 lustrums (25 years). I decided to go back to GM since my first choice sent me a stupid letter about supporting perversion.
This truck was a good choice! It's got the 5 cylinder and the 5 speed transmission. I get 20 to 22 miles to the gallon. It's more powerful than the V6's I had. I use the cruise control to keep from speeding. And so far it's hauled and pulled as good as about any half ton truck I've driven. And handles very good. The On-Star is pretty impressive too! I can call or receive calls thru it and can get a lot of other info from it also. And nice with the XM radio. It's very nice having the back section of the cab with the suicide doors! The only bad thing is that I don't like having to push the clutch in to start it. Being in nuetral when starting is safer. This is one truck I plan to keep and may get another, but with 4 doors and 4 wheel drive. Then we'll have our his and hers. I'll be glad when I get back home from Afganistan to drive it some more!...read morehide
