- Fuel economy is very good (20 mpg around town). Comfortable ride, handles very well. Very powerful.
- High beam control is different, and should be more accessible.
I have been out of the truck market for about 15 years (3 mini vans). I was extremely satisfied with the dealer, and salesman. The truck is the best truck I have ever owned. I have had two (2) FORDS in the past, and always had some type of minor problems that the dealer never seemed to be able to take care of. I have driven the FORD Expedition, F150 and Explorer. I found those trucks to be too clanky, and rode like a buck board wagon as opposed to my Sierra, which has a soft but firm ride, and is very quiet. I hope to keep this truck for a long time, and hope that it holds up. I think that I won't be sorry for purchasing the GMC....read morehide

- Better mpg than my mid-sized Dakota!, roomy, quiet, xlent visibility, XM radio
- Ground clearance should be better with Z71, narrow armrests, little else...great truck!!!
I bought my 1500 crew cab Z71 as a multipurpose family vehicle and work truck. I does it all very well. During the week it is off road and on weekends it is hauling the family and baby gear around with no complaints!
This is my first full sized truck and I have found it very easy to live with so far. Comfortable seats, quiet interior, great bose sound system and surprisingly good handling. The shorter bed is a worthwhile trade off for me. I get 4 doors and its far easier to park and live with than the longer beds! There is still a lot of room back there to haul stuff!
If you like off roading, this is a pretty capable stock truck. I did take off the front black air dam very quickly because it is too low (looks better with it off anyway). It's well balanced and gets great traction. Autotrac works better than other auto 4x4 systems I have tried.
I shopped the competition carefully and I bought the Sierra because:
Nissan Titan-forward visability and reliability problems (brakes, rear diff)
Toyota Tundra- Had everything I liked only less payload & towing ability
Ford F150- underpowered, and too low to be a serious 4x4, cool dash though!
Dodge Ram- Not enough room in the back seat , hemi uses hideous amounts of gas.
This truck is seroiusly worth a look!...read morehide
