- 5.3 Power, Rides Nice
Purchased As New
I bought this truck about a month ago and so far so good. I figured I would leave an initial review even with only having 1,700 miles on the truck simply for the fact that I may not be able to review it for much longer on Yahoo.
I traded in an 08 Avalanche 3LT on the Sierra SLE. I knew I would take a hit on options/features simply because of the step-down in trim level. I am happy to say that it was more of a gradual step than a huge step. A LOT of the features that my Avalanche had are on this truck (back-up sensors, power pedals). And I even now have some features that the Avalance didn't have (bluetooth, Ipod connection that I can change from steering wheel controls). Overall, the Sierra has proven to be a nice blend of performance and style. I do have to say that there are some minor items that I would like to see improved on a $40,000 vehicle. I noticed there is no "power up" feature on the windows (didn't have it on the Avalanche either), and the trim piece that shades the gauge display sounds hollow when tapped (I tap on it when I am listening to music). I would like to see those minor items addressed.
I plan on having this vehicle for a long time and have already picked out some accessories that I want to buy for it to "finish" it off. Plastic bed rail covers, wheel house liners, and a Rhino Liner will be the first additions. Running boards and a truck cap may come later....read morehide

- Great fuel economy, increased torque due to the 6-spd
- Seat upholstery
Purchased As New
I have owned about a dozen trucks in the past 22 years. This one is by far my all-time favorite. It looks GREAT, It's comfortable, and I have seen an increase in fuel economy over my previous 5.3L Silverado.
Unlike another reviewer who is reporting a loss of economy. (with a vehicle that is only a few days old) I have seen an increase of about 1-2 mpg over the past 5 months. I was suprised by the added torque from this 6-spd. I find that at speeds of 70 or less the engine will run much of the time on 4 cyl. mode. Speeds of anything greater do limit the 4 cyl mode to the ocassional down hill grade.
I'm not real excited with the fabric they chose for the seats. I'm sure it will wear well. But, I do like the softer more flanel like upholstery in my vehicles.
So far I have had no reason to bring this truck back to the dealer. But, it is reassuring to have the 100k warrenty just in case....read morehide

- big and comfy
- gas mileage
Purchased As New
Having had a 2007 sierra, I thought the 2010 with 6 speed auto trans would have gotten better gas mileage, not so, I am getting 3-4 mpg less with the new truck, it is full of creaky noises, the transmission has trouble picking a gear, and the engine seldom goes into V4 mode on the highway, unlike my previous truck. I am considering returning to dealer as I have 60 days to return. Not very happy with the new one, wish I had the old one back....read morehide
