- Pros
- Looks good
- Cons
- 4 cylinder to weak, noisy engine, poor gas mileage

The 2011 Terrain was purchased to replace a 2007 Toyota Sequia, which had poor mpg, but very reliable. So far I am not impressed with the Terrains reliability, nor the performance of the four cylinder engine. It is to under powered, and sounds like it's coming apart when cranked. My wife has informed me that it seems to want to stall or die from time to time. Also our air condition has gone out twice in the dead of summer, not good. We will be returning back to the reliable Toyota very soon....read morehide

- Pros
- handles decent, reasonably comfortable
- Cons
- poor fuel economy

GM is lying through their teeth about the fuel economy on this model! I got almost 18mpg with my denali and it had a 6.2 litre engine. My crappy four cyl Terrain only manages about 21. WTF!

- Pros
- Smooth ride, comfortable, spacious seating. Nice looking.
- Cons
- Wish the fuel economy was better...even in Eco. Some blind spots.

(Mine is a 2012 thought I could still be helpful..) I love this crossover. I wanted something that DOESN'T look like a bubble driving on the road. Has a tough/classy looking exterior, rides smooth...storage could be better but with the seats down I don't need much more room.
I love the interior. The Terrain has an accurate rear view camera and the heated seats are a definite plus. I love that it has buttons in multiple places to control the same thing (e.i. one on the steering wheel, radio panel and touch screen.) Nice stereo. Smooth ride, comfortable, spacious seating.
There are a few blind spots, once I learned how to use the mirrors correctly (whoops) it is much easier. The only thing I have difficulty is the frame next to the windshield is a bit thick and I have some trouble seeing a "peripheral view" (not sure of the correct term.)
Overall it is a great value. I have a 4 cylinder to save on gas so the pickup is a bit slow....but I'm not racing the thing. The MPG is a little misleading, says 32 hwy and I get about 21...other than that I love it and am very pleased....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

BEWARE of purchasing this car. Shame on you GM. This was my first GM purchase and will be my last. Dealer lied to me about accurate fuel mileage. Bought this Feb 2011 new with tax 29,700. I bought this strictly for the advertised mileage and complaining after 2 months getting 22. On a trip to Fl got 26 only stopping for gas only. The seats are not comfortable on long trips, couldn't move after trip. This car is like driving a tricycle, absolutely NO pickup. I am not a fast driver and this is rediculous for a 4 cyl. I havent gotten over 24 and 90% of my driving is long distance.I could live with the pickup if it got the gas mileage. If my husband lets me get rid of this, I will. We are a Ford and loyal Toyota family. I should have gone with the highlander v-6 and would have gotten the same mileage with much better pickup....read morehide

Bought my Terrain New 08/11, at that time my avg fuel economy was 21 mpg, now it is up to 25.9 mpg. Have had many people comment on the overall appearance of the vehicle. Been a great vehicle on trips my wife and I have taken, would buy 2 more if I could.

I have owned BMW's Hondas, VW's. Mazdas, Oldsmobilles, Chevy's and many other cars. This one is one of the best. Oh and one thong about the experts talking about fuel efficiency. I have the V6 AWD and my average fuel economy over the entire year is 22.8 MPG and i live in MN and drive in the snow all winter long. I get 28 MPG AVG an road trips...read morehide

- Disappointed in mpg, has serious blindspots and it rattles like a tin can.

I purchased my 2011 Terrain (4 cylinder) on December 2010. I've had it in numerous times to fix a rattle that appears to be coming from the rear hatch door. It rattles like a tin can. I'm embarrassed to have passengers in it. It doesn't get near the mileage that I expected to get from it. I can't tell you how many times I heard that I would get 600 miles per tank of gas by the salesperson. I haven't come anywhere near that figure. Of course, now I'm told that since I have an AWD, I won't ever get that kind of mileage and the salesperson that sold me the vehicle is no longer there. I should have kept my 2001 Buick LaSabre. It didn't rattle and got 27 to 33 mpg and was a 6-cylinder. The Terrain also has some serious blind spots when backing up which is downright scary and the side view mirrors sometimes obscure curbs. I did so much research on this vehicle and am so disappointed. I'm afraid I fell for the looks. I will keep it for two more years and then sell it. The service department at the dealership has been absolutely great, but, unfortunately, the annoying rattle is still there....read morehide

- Pros
- Exterior appearance
- Cons
- fuel mileage, overhead map light buttons do not illuminate
Purchased As New
I like everything about the car with two exceptions. First, the fuel mileage is no where near that advertised. I have the 4 cylinder. I receive 16 mpg in the city. I received 22 on a 1500-mile, interstate road trip. I receive the estimated mpg of the V6 but have a 4 cylinder. Second, the map light buttons do not illuminate. The sunroof, full open and tilt, buttons illuminate, the tailgate button illuminates, and the on/off option buttons for the lights when opening doors illuminate. However, the buttons that turn interior lights on while driving the vehicle do not illuminate. I guess if it's a stary night or full moon, I can open the sunroof and let that light point me to the dome light buttons....read morehide

I have had it in the shop twice did a oil change to see if that would help the knock or diesel sound, didn't but Company is aware of the noise and are looking into it . Had a recall on the
Selenoids and the Brain to the Computer, runs better.
Bought the car in June this year had 158 miles when giving noise. If that can be fixed I will be very happy with the car....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
