This vehicle performs superbly. Not as good on fuel economy as expected from advertising. I really appreciate the styling

GMC lied to me from the second I walked in to that dealership. They told me it would get 22 city 26 to 30 highway. I have had this truck 14 months and have never gotten any where near that. The transmission jumps and knocks, I took it to GMC they had my vehicle for six days. The man called me to pick up my truck, when I arrived he said there is nothing wrong with your truck, and by the way we want you to pay for the rental car. I was so mad I went to Toyota wanting to trade it in that same day. The day I bought my truck all the people were so nice and sweet, wanting to do everything for me, but the second I drove off that lot and all the papers were signed it was all over. This truck has had three recalls so far one for the tire pressure indicator, one is for the oil life meter, and one is for the air bag. This truck is not worth what I paid and I am so unhappy with the service department. I regret buying this vehicle, if I had it to do all over I would have bought a Toyota Sequia. Also for anyone considering buying one of these trucks GMC will tell you the oil should be changed every 6,000 miles, and these trucks only take full synthetic oil. I would never wait 6,000 miles to change the oil in any vehicle, it should be every 2,500 to 3,000 do not fall for it....read morehide

- MPG
Purchased As New
I purchaes an SLT 1, 4 cyl AWD, two weeks ago, decided to go with the AWD for winter performance and at the estimated 20/29 MPG this seemed like a no brainer. So far I got 420 miles off a tank and a half of gas, 18 gallon tank. I bought this car for the 20/29 Estimated MPG. So far in local driving I am averging less than 17 MPG, I took a long trip on the highway yesterday about 150 miles and increased the average up to about 19.5 MPG, so basically half my miles driven have been on the NJ GSP and the other half local driving and I am getting 19.5 MPG. I noticed the only way to get a good MPG is to go 50 miles an hour. My highways are mostly 65 MPH speed limits. When I test drove the car I was surpised with the acceleration and decided it seemd fast enough for a 4cyl. Did not seem slow at all. Considering I bought this car as it has the highest estimated MPG for an SUV and seemed to have good acceleration I am upset with the false advertising and am wondering who test dirves these cars and publishes the MPG. I would think this is done independantly and is regulated. If this car does not start to get better MPG I need to consider my options and may look to file a class action lawsuit againt GM. Does not seem right that this could be so far off. Seems I will never average the minimum 20 MPG.
I actually liked the car outside of this MPG issue but being this was the basis of my consideration and purchase I am furious over this issue....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Roomy, comfortable, nice standard equipment
- Cons
- Strange transmission
Purchased As New
I bought the 2012 sle1 awd I4 last week, brand new. Moving from a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport, this was a nice upgrade. Tonnes of room, nice gadgets and love the bluetooth handsfree for the phone, as I am a salesman on the road most of the time. The electric steering takes some getting used to, and I find the 4 cyl. oddly has enough power for this bigger vehicle- comparable to my Explorer with a V6, but has a little more pep. I do find the transmission shifts oddly, and it seems to rev a little higher than I'm used to. I have noticed though, now that I'm just over 1000 kms. it is starting to dial in and basically tune itself into my driving habits. I'm yet to notice the gas mileage to be what they claim, I'm hoping to see an increase in fuel economy as the truck breaks in. In any arguement regarding fuel economy, it fares much better than the little old explorer, so regardless.... I cannot complain! I love the way this little truck looks- the boxy style is totally a love it or leave it look- me.... I love it. However if you aren't one who knows how to drive using your side mirrors- this truck isnt for you!...read morehide

- Pros
- good mileage, handles nice on dry pavement with no ice or snow
- Cons
- Worthless in even 1/2 inch of snow. horrible if not on dry pavement
Purchased As New
I bought it thinking it would save alot on gas. 32 mgp sounded great. If you drive it 50mph you will get 38mpg, if you drive it 60 you will get around 31, 70mph is 25mpg, 75 mph is 24mpg. transmission is very weak and will always downshift with any breeze or hill and will guzzle the gas and wind the engine up to redline speeds all the time when just trying to drive normal. It is very crudely designed with a very weak transmission and and worthless drive train if you ever get in even a trace amount of snow. I had a camaro with racing slicks and no clearance and even it handled better on snow and ice. I am a GM fan but the Terrian has alot of work to be done to it before GM should have turned it out or put their name on it. I would expect this low quality from a no name foriegn company but not GM. I think I will go back to a suburban or pickup and the terrian is a peice of #$%$....read morehide

Awesome vehicle- I use it as a family car- and I haven't had a single problem with it. Price is in the reasonable range, and the interior quality is pretty great. Love the back up camera and the touch screen radio that are standard on the vehicle. Smooth quite ride...

- Pros
- nice look, quite interior, quiet drive
- Cons
- not enough power, loud when in idol, does not get epa gas milage advertised
Purchased As New
I purshased my sle/2 brand new 60 miles on it. two weeks later i noticed it was loud took it back and they said nothing wrong, took it back a week later and demanded they look at exaust system because it was loud, low and behold ehaust leak,...they fixed it,,,Now it has almost stalled out on me while entering the freeway. took it back they said nothing wrong, as of to date i've been keeping track of the gas mileage while drive in regular mode and eco mode, the eco mode gave less gas milage than regular mode. I was getting 320 mpg in regular mode and got 290 miles in eco mode. Now my problem is this, I drive the highyway most of the time about 90% of the time and use the same gas station and fill up till the gas is spilling out EVERYTIME... This Vehicle DOES NOT get the EPA gas MIlage as advertised on the little blue sticker that came with the vehicle... I have it in the shop as I type, in fact, I drove it there on empty....OH i must say, I reset the trip meters both trip 1 and trip 2 at the gas pump before I fiull up till the gas is spilling out... GM Lied, Ithey kept telling me I needed to give the car time to break in well its now 7 months I had it and it has 8,000 miles how much longer GM. FALSE Advertisement, THe main reason I bouth this vehicle was for the gas mileage, even though I was looking at the dodge journey, dodge durango and the ford edge and ford taurus, this terrain is getting the gas milage of my 2012 dodge charger sxt plus...and thats horrible because the terain I have is a 4 cylinder.....Lets all sue gm for false advertisement...I use regular gas and the blue sticker says this vehicle should get from 350-590 mpg,,,,this has never happed for me not in regular mode or eco mode, even on a full tank till gas was spilling out on my way from michigan to Chicago (4hr drive there and 4 hrs back) never got past 320 mpg even in this trip which was of course ALL HIGHWAY miles from DETROIT TO CHICAGO,,,, FALSE ADVERTISEMENT GM!!!!!!!...read morehide
