2005 GMC Yukon XL Denali All-Wheel Drive
There are 10 user reviews for the All-Wheel Drive trim shown below
- Unbelievable comfort, ride and utility
- Guzzler for sure, serious depreciation for first few years.
Purchased As Used
I call this my anti-prius (my other car) but it is used only when the whole family has to fit and 5 bikes need to be hooked to the back. You can get these used for dirt cheap and they are the most reliable and feature packed machines out there. Talk about utility, you can take the rear seat out and fit 2 couches one on top of the other in the bed. It has served very well to move me 3 or 4 times and is the best to take family and friends to the beach. I have had a total of 11 little guys seated and rolling around the back of the rear seat. They loved it!
Rock solid, this truck is a keeper until all the kids are out of college. I am sure it will move them more than a few times. Ever try to rent a beast like this? $600-700 at a minimum per week if you can them.
The 6 liter engine purrs and rocks you back in your seat when you floor it. A few tweaks like a chip and cold air intake and you sit at right around 400HP, more than enough to blow you by most quick cars on the road. Not quite my old Mustang GT for handling. It laughs at towing and heavy loads.
My kids do fight over who gets to lay down in the rear seat to take naps in, and how cold to make the rear AC in the summer.... such problems to have.
If only gas were free..... but then again, if I had to rent one every time I needed it... well let's just say it paid for itself a few times over. I have to say, this is my first GM, and now I am a fan. You can't kill these things.
Buy any of these truck 3-4 years old, and let someone else take the 70% depreciation. Steal of the century.......read morehide

- Comfort and Performance
- Ya can have all of this and get 35MPG!!! No Cons.
Purchased an '05 Denali XL in July. 7K Miles and not a squeek or a ping. Very happy with the craftsmanship, inside and out. I am a previous owner of an '03 Eddie Bauer Expedition and it does not compare... Denali Power, Ride and fit/finish is so much better. The extra room is perfect for my family of 4 and our dog. Would like to have the back-up sensors though. Happy GMC owner so far!...read morehide

- Beautiful Interior. Very Spacious great for a large family. Get Lots of Attention when driving.
- Bad Fuel Economy, Rear BOSE Speakers should had been like the front ones.
Great Styling! Have you ever noticed how nice the style of the mirrors look on the Denali??? (NOW) Look -- Closely at how the Escalade mirrors look on it and then notice how the mirror design does not go well with it.
Cadillac Designers should have made the mirrors of the Escalade somewhat squared since that how really the front of the Escalade looks.
The 05 GMC Yukon XL Denali has a Luxurious exterior design.
The Upcoming 06 GMC Yukon Denali that is due next year has a very sporty look to it but actually looks very cheap in design. It personaly think that it looks like an oversized GMC ENVOY. I have seen pic's of it and it doesnt look that much different than the 06 Yukon or Tahoe even Escalade.
It is not going to look as unique as the 05 model Denali....read morehide

- Nice Looking SUV and great for long trip
- cheap material inside is cheap, when you go over a a bump the car shack like there is not shocks
I own this SUV for 3 years and I Love it but there is a problem with the GAS TANK and you need to be very careful It start leaking when you fill out the tank from under the car between driver door and back door I called GMC and they said your car is out of warranty!!! I told them this is a serious issue my car is only 3 years old so they said we just cover the cost of the tank and not the labor Plus they dont care and they dont call that as a defective parts and me and you have to risk our familys life. I dont care about the $300 Labor charge this is a Major problem that they dont care till some one die Like Firestone tire deal so be careful. I will not buy GMC car any more...read morehide

- solid ride, comfortable seats, plenty of power
- no back up sensor VERY BAD CHANGES IN '05 dRIVER INFO CENTER
I traded my 04 in for an 05 (high mileage user) and I am so angry at the stupid changes they made! Last year's model was equiped with 2 keys each one setting the driver seat, mirrors and climate control to your preference when inserted in the transmission. Not now! And the driver information center last year had personal and business mileage logs as well as economy figures. Nope not this year. You get avg mileage and that's it. I can only hope that the nitwit who made the changes loses his job first in the next downsizing....read morehide

- Rides 7 quite comfortably; surprisingly quiet; Can throw you back in your seat when needed
- Fuel economy
I've had the Yukon XL Denali for a little over 3 months. I got it to pull a 20 ft power boat that was straining my 4Runner. I was amazed when I connected the trailer to the Denali for the first time. I simply put it in drive and it began pulling the boat out of the shed without giving it any additional gas! It pulls the boat without any problems, long hills, down hills, it is great. Large enough so that I now can see around the boat with the huge side mirrors. We take lots of weekend road trips and the Denali is quite comfortable. It seems to matter naught whether we are taking the boat or not as you barely notice the difference. IT handles surprisingly well for its size and has a tight turning radius. Cornering along the Mendocino coast was a breeze without the sway and dipping just a steady ride. If I got 5 more mpg I think I'd be ecstatic. But if you need to pull a boat, camper, livestock trailer it simply can't be beat and is worth every $50 bill it swallows each time we get near a gas pump....read morehide

- GPS is much better than Kenwood after market I previously had. Automaticaly adjusts for changes.
- Mid row seats do not move forward or backwards or tilt for 3rd row pasengers.
Dark windows make it hard to see and back up. Factory back up system should be available. After market back up systems are good and afordable. Overall very pleased with purchase and would recommend to everyone.

- Great for road trips and a big family...
- Not very good fuel usage :(
This car is great, must be an upper class family to keep the fuel running in this car...
